I came up with a crazy idea. I use this floor fan at night while sleeping and I thought of using it to cool my G53JW. It is quite loud, but I use headphones most of the time. Call me crazy, but it dropped my GPU temps by 20+C.

But using that method can increase the rate of getting more dust inside your beast :D

But that would be crazy... *opens freezer room*

By the way, is it bad that it makes my laptop vibrate a little bit? Its not much.

Yes, vibration is bad for your hard drives, and the electromagnetic interference from the fan motor is bad for everything in your computer. It's the same reason you shouldn't use a hairdryer or vacuum cleaner on electronics, besides avoiding static electricity. The magnetic field from an electric motor is not something you want to expose your expensive electronics to -- it shouldn't have "dangerous" levels in normal household stuff but it's not worth the chance.

Ok. I'll only use it during intense gaming/overclocking.

Just don't use it man. Invest 30 bucks in a cooler, and you can take it to bed / on the couch with you. Not really worth the 1500 dollars down the drain. If you're getting high temps, check out my post on this page http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/532474-get-out-air-cans-6.html (the last one). The air can dropped my temps by almost 15-20 degrees.

TBH, i dont think you need a cooling pad for the g73. If you have higher than average temps I suggest you 'get out the air cans' or consider a repaste. The g73's fans are pretty powerful. The underside of the laptop never gets hot whatsoever even after 3-4 hrs straight of gaming.

Dont have a pic but years ago i ran a cardboard box tunnel from a window AC directly to my cpu heat sink. On the back side of the tunnel i had a fan blowing the exhaust out the back and recirculating it around. Had to keep a check on condensation but otherwise it was awesome. I ran it close to freezing temps for almost a month before i got tired of it.

I don't know why, if your max temp is 83C, heck you win! Why bother, when you actually risk damaging your laptop. And you do not want to have to open a G53, like ever, to just remove the dust bunnies. PITA.
