Best router for Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 Wireless Card?

While PowerNotebooks.com customizes my new G73JW-XR1
with the Advanced-N 6200 Wireless Card
(and OCZ Vertex 2 90GB SSD for the primary),
I am filling my time looking for the best router.

Any thoughts for an under $200 'N' router?

So far, I have on my list:

Netgear N600 WNDR3700.....$150

Cisco-Linksys E3000.....$146
(or it's older model WRT610N.....$130)

 

I really like my WRT610N with the Intel 6200 wireless adapter.

Doesn't look like much changed on the E3000 besides the new software for novices. Still doesn't support jumbo frames on the LAN which is my biggest disappointment with the WRT610N. Also the NAS implementation is way too slow for me but that was expected, and there's many NAS devices with fast CPUs anyway.

 

I have the E3000 and it has been awesome.

I bought and returned the Netgear WNDR3700 because I couldn't set up a schedule for my kids. I block their internet on a schedule.

I can access it via my cell phone to manually block them as well if I need to. Amazing how much stuff they can get done when their internet is blocked

 

Just keep in mind, that the faster the router's processor and memory, the faster the wireless to LAN switching (which makes a significant difference).

The 6200 works well with pretty much everything out there.

 

You will take advantage of the 6200 with a router that is 5Ghz - 300 mb/s. I am very happy with the speed of the Netgear WNDR3700.

 

I have wndr3700 also. Excellent router. 300mbps all day long on 2.4&5 ghz with my 6200.

 

Dont waste money on expensive routers. Just get a Linksys WRT54GL which is really cheap now, load Tomato on it and youll have one great router with all the options you could possibly need. I bought and set up 5 now - one in my apartment, one at my parents house, one at my gfs parents, and two for my friends and theyre all very happy with it. The range and signal strentgh is bigger houses is impressive after you tweak it with Tomato.

I got my 3700 for $60 on cragslist. Can't beat it for that. But unless you Need dual band N, it is overkill, but I have to have 5ghz. My video baby monitor and microwave both kill 2.4 ghz, so 5ghz is a must in my house.

 

Whatever you do, DONT get a Belkin Wireless N Router. I've given up trying with it.

I cant get over 4 bars reception with it, and cant connect at over 150Mbps despite it being able to achieve 300Mps.

 

Have you enabled channel bonding on your router and wifi card? W/o it you can only get 150mbps.

 

How do i enable channel bonding?

Nevermind, i think i found it. Router and Wireless card are both set to operate at 20/40hz but still cannot get higher than 150Mbs.

 

That is one thing you need. I think you also need WPA2 security (the others won't work). Hope that helps, it took me awhile to figure it out but there are some tutorials in forum somewhere ( I tried searching but haven't found 'em yet).

I've had a read through that, and even created a thread where those solutions were tried.

I cant seem to get >150Mbps and 4 signal bars. Meanwhile my dell vostro gets 270Mbps and full reception.
