hello,
Im having a bit of trouble with the bf3 beta, i have the drivers all installed. yet im getting Frames lag on the eta quite often. ive read other people are being able to play on ultra.
However, ive been playing around tweaking stuff here and there, and found my machine could also play at those setting but i had to defragged before i played,
which gave me hour of playing without lag.
Anyway its annoying having to defrag and there must be a better solution, but im out of ideas. So if anyone more knowlegable could give me some advice id be very grateful.
Best Regards

Man..
My connection jumped and Ive posted 4 times the same thing.
Here's comes again:
First I need your system spec. The gpu you have how much VRAM it has? 1,5gb?
You need a specific driver for BF3, 285.38 beta.
For instructions on how correctly remove and upgrade drivers in the right way please have a look at my guide linked in my sig.
If the new driver doesn't help, your CPU may be throttling. Download ThrottleStop from techinferno, launch it, turn it on and minimize it (leave it running and try again).
You may need a small OC to get things smooth thought.
Be sure to set these options in nvidia control panel/manage 3d settings:
- display to single display mode
- power management to prefer maximum performance.
About the settings you should be fine with:
1366x768
All ultra
AA disabled
Post AA to medium
Blur on
Filtering to 16x
Ambient occlusion to SSAO
Report back in any case. -
gtx 460m 1.5gb
i7 2630qm 2.0ghz (2.9 Turbo)
8ghz drr3
the beta driver, i followed your guide before i posted, it improved the fps abit but i still have to defrag before playing to actually play the game for a 30 mins then it lags more.
Currently every setting is on low or off and its on 1366 x 768.
on low im getting 20 -25 fps while looking towards the center of the map.
im usig the throttlestop program aswell and ive attempted to tweak the gpu a few times and nothing has boosted my performance to the point where it is stable.
if you need any more info give me a shout. -

Well if TS and a proper driver installation doesnt help, something else is clogging the system.
How are your temperatures?
What i find strange is the need to defrag the system each time you need to play the game.
You can try to disable some background serices and processes by manually disabling them or by using GameBooster here: http://download.g-forums.net/gb3-setup.exe
Maybe a program or service is the culprit. Note that when using gamebooster, try to disable as many services you can and try again.
Let me know how it goes. -
Current Temps while game is running cpu 64 c and gpu 81 c -

So youre in range.
Well see how it does with Gamebooster. Are you on stock asus os, or a fresh win7 installation?
Chipset drivers are installed? Which kind of HDD you have? -
OK, after that round the FPS where up by about 5, but im still on low settings. -

The only thing i can advice is to fresh install a new windows copy, better it is the sp1 one.
Asus OS is riddled with all sorts of bloatware and broken things, i had only problems with it, even bsods.
After installing a new fresh copy and wiping out the recovery partition i gained alot of perfomance and stability. -
i wouldnt mind formatting but i have no idea where to download win 7 ultimate 64 from. when i made a recovery partition when i got the laptop th dvd it was burning kept failing to burn. so im stuck atm.

Oh well thats no problem.
Go here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html
And get the home premium iso you need. Burn the iso and youre sorted. Remember that your license key its printed on the sticker below the laptop.
also, youll need some drivers when you reboot:
- ATK driver
- Keyboard Filter
- GPU Driver (285.38 BF3 beta)
- Intel Chipset Driver
- Gigabit Lan/Wifi/BT Driver
- Realtek Audio driver or Modded X-FI MB2
All you need is linked here in the awesome Chastity thread over ROG forums (well, beside the GPU drivers, save the ones you have installed) here:
G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
There you go. -

Nope, unless you have an Ultimate key.

Well download the ultimate iso then, all instructions are in that thread, you can also make a multi version disc from a single version.

Ok so i finally got some timeto do the clean install of windows. it all went smoothly. installed the beta nvidia driver, and the network drivers and such. opened steam and ran Dues ex: HR.
It ran on high settings with Tessalation off. so a major improvement because fire made me lag previous and all setting where low and off.
I then tryed RAGE, all graphics setting on. the game run perfectly there has not even been a hint of dropping under 60fps.
so feeling confident now for BF3 being able to run.
Thanks a lot Kingpinzero your a legend +9001 respect and rep -

I'm happy to hear that finally you managed to get the expected performance out of the beast
Enjoy your laptop man! -
At 750/1500/1400 my 3dmark11 is p2201, thats all I can pull out of it.
Gaming I stay under 90c, furmark I max out at 93c at 750/1500
I've tried the latest beta drivers, and the latest stable drivers, install and uninstall per your guide.
Any thoughts? Maybe I just have a bad egg of a GPU?
I've been an avid Linux user for years, just starting using Windows for gaming and I do not really know my way around these GPU issues. -

Definitely something is wrong.
At 750 your temps should be around 75c under load and furmark, there's no way that at those clocks you reach 93c in furmark.
That's what I get by running my card at 835/1670/1600 with an overvolted vbios at 1.0v.
Probably you need a repaste or try to dust off your laptop with an air compressor.
Shoot directly in the fan vents and below the laptop, see if you can bring down those temps.
Probably the instability is due to excessive heat.

If the laptop is brand new, definitely something isnt right with it. I guess an RMA is the only option.
But if the laptop has been bought used, it may have some dust clogging up the vents.
Ive seen laptops that cannot oc past 800 mhz, but a laptop that cant even stay stable with a 50mhz oc is a no go, its impossible. -
