I upgraded the wifi on my G53JW to the Intel Centrino 6205 and have been getting lag spikes during gaming. This occurs very frequently (every few minutes and lasts for about 5 seconds or so).
I didn't notice the spikes until I started gaming (especially in WoW).
I've tried updating the drivers and changing the settings for the card so that the power doesn't turn off (as per intel's suggestion), however, nothing seems to work.
I'm now considering upgrading this card to the Killer 1102.
How does this compare to the 6205? Or does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix my current problem without an upgrade?

Have you made adjustments to your router to see if that helps (adjust traffic priority if you can, make sure its firmware is up to date, etc)?
I have the 1102 in my K53TA, and if I had it to do again, I would have stuck with Intel. The Killer is like how AMD/ATI used to be - great hardware with lousy software. The Bigfoot Killer network manager is a resource hog that I find does little, if anything, to improve performance. It also suffers from an occasional, and massive, memory leak. The latest driver/software package crashes for no obvious reason. Previous revisions cause my CPU usage to spike, again for no reason. I ended up switching to a generic Atheros WiFi driver, bypassing the network manager software all together. It works great now, but I could have saved myself a lot of time, grief, and money had I stuck with an Intel WiFi card. -
I've tried newest drivers for the card and firmware is updated for the router. I guess next is to try messing with the router settings (not too hopeful, as my other computer doesn't have this problem at all). -

You could very well have a defective Intel card. Perhaps try swapping it for the same one or changing to a standard 6200 model. Maybe the 6230 would work as well.

I know on the Alienware m14x forums, people were complaining sbout the 6205 model cards, as they had some problems. I bought my 6200 from newegg, and haven't had any issues yet (last I saw they stock em for just a hair under $30). You could always try and see if you could RMA your 6205 and toss in your factory card for that process, assuming it turns out to be the card is defective.

Try WLAN Optimizer. I used to have lag spikes when playing youtube vidoes and this solved the problem. Even in games no issues now. I've always used it since. It should help otherwise get another card.

I've swapped back to the stock Atheros card and everything is fine. Only thing is that it's only 150mbps and it doesn't support 5GHz.
I'll put the 6205 back in and try WLAN Optimizer. The 6200 is discontinued and the 6205 is the replacement, so I will have trouble getting a 6200 directly from Intel.
If WLAN Optimizer doesn't work, I'll give the Killer 1102 a try. Does anyone know where to get these cards in Canada? -
TBH, I've never really had a WiFi card die on me, but maybe I haven't given the card a chance to.... newegg has em in stock at the moment....

I received my 1103 today and put it into the G53JW and it's not detecting. The seller mentioned that the BIOS might not support this card. I'm hesitant to upgrade the BIOS as I've read that it's possible to brick the machine. Has anyone successfully installed an 1102 or 1103 into the G53JW?

Make the bios update dude. No worries. And try not to swap the wifi cards to often or the antenna connection will get loose and you'll have a new set of problems with your wifi signal
-
Sigh.. BIOS updated successfully, but the card still doesn't get detected.

The Bigfoot is based on the Atheros chipset, and should detect fine. I would try reseating the Bigfoot.
