Well I wanted to update the bios today. So I went on Asus support site ( ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download)

Wrote in my serial number and I got to the G73jh driver download site.

I downloaded the latest bios there, BIOS 213 (under "BIOS" tab) then I downloaded the latest bios utility software "Windows BIOS Flash Utility" which is WinFlash_WIN7_32_64_z2303 (under "BIOS-Utilities" tab).

I started up WinFlash, choose the BIOS 213 file and clicked the flash button.
After about a minute I see WinFlash stuck at 99%.

Waited about 30 minutes and nothing, I got really frustrated.
I went on my second computer and searched google for "g73jh winflash stuck at 99%". I read a thread from notebookreview.

That guy had the same problem as I, but he got his installation resumed after about two hours of waiting. But he also added that he wanted to shut down his computer pressing ctrl + alt + del. But the second before he pressed del his installation resumed.

I thought about it a few seconds, and then it come to me. Hey what if WinFlash is bugged, and the only way to resume the installation is through clicking ctrl + alt.

I tried it and it worked.
(I held down Ctrl and immediately after i clicked Alt it 100% the installation)
    Asus you damn troll.

I don't encourage using WinFlash just because there is a possible fix. But if you where stupid to do this and searched google for a fix.

Then I hope you get redirected to this thread.

A quick search of the forums here would have told you that WinFlash is a terrible idea. EasyFlash is much safer, and there are a lot of threads that have discussed this in the past. Good for you that you survived it.

Thank you to the original poster. Usually people do not google to search for problems until they actually have the problem. I did not know it was a terrible idea to use WinFlash, I figured it was fairly safe since it was under the support page on Asus' website. Luckly enough, I thought to search it myself and came across this.

I hit CTRL + ALT and finally it made it finish. Thanks, OP.

I really wish companies would put only as a last resort next to winflash, it's not guaranteed failure but it is much riskier.

It would be good to post this in the ROG forums, we haven't found this solutions there yet. We always warn people to delete winflash from there computer. But like you said people just trust it because its on Asus Support Website. Lots of Bricked Notebooks over the last 2 years. http://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?146-G75-G55-amp-G46-Series-Notebooks

Meaker do you suppose that Its the UEFI failure. I mean were calling it BIOS but really all these notebooks are coming UEFI. I personal have only seen this problem with Asus Notebooks but I also only troll forums for notebooks too except for the Eightforum haven't see any BIOS/UEFI issues there. You know we all have known for a long time that upgrading BIOS can be hazardous to your MB. But for me its only been Since UEFI there seem to be problems and most of those are using Winflash.

It's not even the business, that was way before I was with PNB, this is going back to the radeon 8500 type series with video cards and motherboards of that era.

    Hi guys,
    I'm really sad.
    I had a friend's Asus x54c, though windows detected it as k54c.
I checked on another pc the BIOSes for x54c and k54c with md5sum, they're identical.
I updated the BIOS to solve a standby issue, but winflash freezed at 99% of the ROM veryfing. So if the tool says the truth the ROM was successfully written.
Ctrl+alt isn't working!! Help me please!! I don't know what to do!!
The pc is still opened, powered on and freezed.
    :(((((((((((

I'm glad it's ok, it must have been the verification that had an error rather than the flash itself, I bet that was a relief when it booted up!

I loudly cheered and jumped all over my house.
I immediately tried to reflash with EasyFlash but it said the build date is too old!
The bios had some problems detecting the uefi windows boot manager but after some minutes it worked. Now I go to church all Sundays :D

Yes it can loose the fact the UEFI boot is there, if anyone else gets that then flipping the type of boot can help or putting in installation media.
