I recently opened the laptop's rear access area to take a gander at the parts and then closed it back up. Nothing touched, tightened the two screws back on, panel snapped into place.

But now I notice something strange. The plastic panel area underneath and around the left "mouse" button clicks when I press down on it. I am of course not talking about the usual soft click sound that either button makes, but an almost sticky, clicky sound. It's clear that some two parts of the laptop that shouldn't be touching are in fact touching every time I need to press that area.

If I pinch that portion of the laptop (top and bottom side) and then try clicking the left button, or in that area, the problem is gone. So obviously it looks like something is just not staying in place, since the problem reappears once I stop pinching those two side of the plastic body together.

Thing is, I have no idea how this can happen after just opening up the laptop's most basic service area and making absolutely no changes. Seems like some sort of fit and finish issue.

    Ideas?

I say open it up again carefully and then close it back again carefully. Make sure all the screws are snug and if you can isolate what is making that noise, perhaps put a small buffer between the two parts so it doesnt make the noise anymore. Perhaps a piece of plastic/foam or my favorite: duct tape.
