Never thought this would be such a HUGE difference but about 9 months ago, i repasted with IC Diamond. For the past 2-3 weeks, i've seen my temps dramatically increase from about 50 to 70 at idle. I though to myself, "oh no, repaste time" then today while cleaning my room, i found an old compressed air can and decided to blow in my vents. A considerable amount of dust came out and my temps INSTANLY went back to about 45-50 at idle.

Just felt like i'd post this to remind everybody to regularly blow in the vents, it help a lot more than you think! Especially those with good thermal pastes

I remember telling you to do this and you didn't want to believe that dust was the reason your idle temps were so high.

Your nose works very much the same as a fan does when it comes to dust. Give or take a few sinuses.

Try not cleaning that out for 2 years!

that was a year ago and i did try that, but my temps were very high, idles around 85-90. When i took my G73 apart, the thermal paste was cheap white stuff, put some IC Diamond and it fixed it right away. 1 year later, IC Diamond is still working strong because a simple cleaning of the vents got my temps back under 50

I blow air into vents without long tube, straight from can.It has more power. After that I open hdd cover and blow air from inside.
People make one big mistake, they start to clean laptops when laptop start to overheat.I clean once a week since I bought it.I always to this to all my laptops and never had problem with overheating.

I clean my laptop yesterday and look what my idle temp are today.Room temp is 23C.

I don't know that a weekly cleaning is a good thing - every time you clean the vents you risk (and it's a tiny risk) blowing some sort of foreign conductive material onto the components. It's not like car maintenance - you can't do much preventative maintenance on the INSIDE of your laptop.

Considering the REALLY SMALL risks involved in blowing air into your laptop, and the REALLY SMALL benefit of doing it weekly, I'd stick to a less rigorous schedule. Unless you live in a dust barn.
