    hi guys,
just got a blu-ray disc in for the first time but I have the errror message "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support"
The disc is however correctly identified on the my computer bit. I have tried VLC as well and it can't read it.

Blurays don't play in Windows Media Player nor VLC.

You need Total Media Theatre or PowerDVD

There seem to be 2 files in link above. I've used Version V7.0.2815 and it works fine.

yes i tried the other one and it is working fine too. Only thing is i've got the letterbox top and bottom, which i thought would be not present since the G73 is 16:9.

Many are done in a wider format than 16:9...

Oh right, I just thought that all blu Ray films are a standard 16:9

Nah :) Many preserve the original film's aspect ratio (and it's often stated on the box) like 2.40:1, 1.85:1, etc.
