It also happens sometimes when I'm playing games. What'll happen is, I'll close my laptop and go do something else, and when I come back and open it up it either freezes up completely, blue screens or it locks up for 3-5 seconds at a time until I restart it, and whenever I restart it, sometimes it freezes up while it's loading and I end up having to restart again. At one time, I've had to restart it over 6 times just to get it working. I have no idea what's wrong.

What should I do? If you need any more information, just let me know.

If this is anything like the G72...test your memory...I had my G72 come out of sleep one time,BSOD'd on the spot...and in safe mode though it would run for a few minutes...sometimes longer. ran memtest and there was failure all around...replaced the bad stick and it's been good ever since.

i had EXACTLY the same problem. i ran several tests including memtest86 and i couldn't detect the problem. i even sent my G74sx back to asus royal club for repair, in which they reinstalled my OS and told me the problem was with a HDD (???), and the problem persisted. ANYWAYS, i sent back my laptop and demanded them to do a thorough check again, and they found that the problem was with a RAM, the free 2GB RAM given by xoticpc....so yeah, you might want to look into that.

If you can rule out a RAM issue, IT may be the VBIOS - have you updated it? It is not available on the ASUS site (SHOCKING) but the info is easily found in the forum, you S/B on 012.020.000.032.038352
http://www.hwinfo.com/ one of many tools to verify this.

I had this issue a few months ago where my computer would blue screen and shut down automatically after I left it in sleep or hibernate. After getting my memory dump file analyzed by some posters over at the Windows 7 forums I updated my chipset and Intel WiFi drivers and have not had the issue since.
