Got laptop envy today... Thought I could wait... Got to reading all the posts AGAIN and decided it was time.

I looked at about 10 places online, they all said out of stock. The last place I looked was JR Music and computer world. Reading all the stories about people being told there was a six week backlog I didn't have much hope, but I called anyway. I was very surprised when the guy told me he had them in stock. I told him I'll take one, paid and got my order number. I took the free shipping and just got an email saying it shipped, should be here in one week.

Just did the same thing with the Crucial realssd C300. they had two 256GB and I have one coming to meet the laptop. (Edit I bought this from Crucial)

    JR might have more left..

    Yea my first post ever!!!

Hey congratts! Hope you enjoy your new powerhouse.
Oh and a post like this might have been better in the main g73 thread. The good news and availability info would most likely be viewed far more there. :D

    Cheers!

Nice find! That has got to be the luckiest G73 story I've ever heard. I'm guessing you called them even tho their site said out of stock? And on the main thread, I posted that my wait could be 6 weeks. Well they called to confirm my order today, and told me it should only take 3-4 weeks, which is not nearly as bad! Congratz on your purchase. :)

His story is great, and congrats. But my story is the best and worst all in one.

Ordered mine on 2-5-10, delivered on 2-6-10.
    Died on 2-11-10, RMA'd on the 12th
    Recieved a replacement 3 1/2 weeks later.
Downgraded RAM from 1333 to 1066
No restore DVD or Power2Go DVD

    Thanks for the reply’s,
Yes, I thought it was real lucky too. In the last few years I’ve been buying those $300 to $400 “laptop Deals”. After 6 months or so start upgrading them and really never being happy with the performance. I’ve been reading/studying on what has the A list of components and I thank all the owners of this laptop who took the time to post.
So I’m going to make the cats and dogs go hungry, no more golf carts, washing clothes just makes them wear-out quicker, and other luxuries (toilet-paper?) will have to be ignored for a while so I can feed my technology desire.
When and after a few days/weeks of use I’ll post again and with my review/impressions. Computers have gone from interest->hobby->job->obsession and kind of has stayed at the last one. Everyone on my block I know by their computer, I fix/upgrade one neighbors and have 10 more lined-up.
    Thank you

    Oldtimefart,

Thank you so much. I pre-ordered from XoticPC and it won't be delivered (I assumed) for another month or two so I decided to give JR.com a try. I just called and they still have some left so I ordered and they will ship the G73-A1 out on Monday.

Well, I guess XoticPC will not be getting my money.

    I just noticed something.

    http://www.jr.com/asus/pe/ASU_G73JHA1#productTabDetails

According to the above link, the details of the A1 is wrong (I think). It states that the hard drive speed is 5400RPM instead of 7200 RPM and it states that it has the eSATA port.

I think that these are misprints.

Looks like all these folks getting lucky with other retailers (ie not Gentech, Xotic, Excaliber, etc.) are finding the A1 still in stock. Has anyone gotten lucky with an A2, and if you have, where did you find it, and did you pay over $1550 for just the computer (not including shipping)?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I bought mine from NCIX the other day (the A2). They are a Canadian company (I live in Canada), but they ship to the US (or so told from someone in another thread). Originally it is 1649.99 on their site (CAD). They will price match XoticPC for the 1549.00 USD but charge you CAD, which will work out a little cheaper than the 1549.00, not much since the dollar is almost at parity. Last I saw they have 2 left and they seem to get pretty regular shipments (every few days).

I am not sure what shipping costs are, but I know it was about 30$ for express shipping here.

    Hope that helped.

Thanks, tailendforwards. That did help a little bit. In the end, it comes down to: Do I want to save anywhere from $30-$100 and wait 3 weeks, or do I want it by next week and spend that much more? While it would be nice to have it by next week, I've already ordered, and I hate dealing with switching on sellers. Plus, I've been wanting (read: dreaming about) this thing since early Jan, so I'm sure a couple more weeks won't hurt.

Does the G73JH-A1 really have these

    ExpressCard 54/34 Slot
    eSATA, IEEE1394

I thought the G73 didn't have those ports

Nope, doesn't have em. Any site that says it does is a misprint.
