So I bricked my laptop that I bought from BestBuy 4 months ago in the process of flashing the vbios. I tried to blind flash it but it didn't work so I'm stuck with a screen that won't light up anymore. Since I got my laptop through BB, should I contact BestBuy first about getting it fixed or should I contact asus and try to get an RMA?

Also, would anymore be kind as to upload some images/videos of how the computer boots up without any hard drives and only a bootable usb stick? I'm pretty sure the autoexecute commands in the blind flashing process works on another computer but I'm not sure if I'm even booting to the usb drive even with the hard drives removed.

Your supposed to go through best buy first.

Hmmm I might go into best buy tomorrow to see if they would let me observe what happens in their model unit when the hard drives are removed. If it can boot to the USB drive without changing anything in the BIOS on the model unit, I might still have a chance if I can reset my BIOS back to default settings.

I think Asus laptops comes with a CrashFree BIOS. Means you can restore the default BIOS with some key combination. Please google it and give a try.

Pretty sure a vbios brick will disable anything related to video.

I bricked mine from BB & the geek squad sent it to their repair facility. After determining they couldn't fix it they allowed an exchange under manufacturer's warranty. Whole process took about 3 weeks.

really took them that long? mm what a bummer. its like probably sending it to asus and waiting for them to get it back which is probably what they did.

make sure you don't get a refurbed or possibly a better one but i not sure of the chances of that happening

You bricked your laptop with an unofficial vbios update. I wouldn't complain about turnaround time, I'd just be happy they fix it without charging you.

YES, the vbios is official, but was released in an unofficial format.

it is official vBIOS from Asus... just that it won't be on that site and RMAed laptops will have it installed...get your facts right.
