My charger won't charge properly. it will only do so if i bend it enough and squeeze it in. but lately it doesn't charge. And what i noticed is that the tip of my charger is very hot. i did manage to make it work again, but plugged it off immediately when i felt the charger block was very hot.

can i still fix this? gluing the metal tip into a straight way or something?
can i replace the old charger with a universal charger?
I'm still under warranty on BB, but to send it back there and have it replaced is pretty much troublesome for me. :p but i guess i have to if i don't have any other options left.
now using laptop with power saver on. :(

One month ago my ac adapter died. Just RMA it and asus will send you a new one. In the meantime you receive your new AC adapter, you can use a normal adapter with 70-90A range as output, but it doesn't allow you to play. For normal use (internet, email, youtube) lower Amp adapter will be fine for you.

Check your outlet too, try change to another one, see if it's different.

my laptop is a refurb. they told me that even if this had a 2 yr warranty from the first user, i only get 3 months. and only from best buy.

what do you mean i cant play? will it fry when i do?

the adapter is too small for supplying power. The G73 series come with a 150w PSU. I recommend getting a 180w or better to allow the brick to run cooler.

    Noooooo T_T

it rocks when you have a laptop not common in your place, but sucks when you need it to be fixed. :(

what if i forced the 120w in gaming? what would happen?

Simple, your vga won't perform as normal, with constant hiccup and potential shutdown for run under power. Trust us, get the original (by RMA) or buy one of at least (stock) 150w or above. The 180w suggested by Chastity works perfect... i have both

The unit will run very hot as it's being stressed, and possibly burn out.

Any universal charger should be fine as long as it's rated for 150w or more. The tip we need is a common one.

I don't know if my problem is similar, but I think the tip of the adapter is messed up on my G53JW. Sometimes if you turn or move the tip when its plugged in, the power is cut off. Should I get a replacement or should I just not mess with it when its plugged in? I normally don't use my battery, so it shuts down the laptop when it happens.

prolly the same problem as mine.

My cousin opened up the metal tip and found that there's a wire that was cut 'cos of me twisting and turning the metal tip. all we need now is to solder this baby! :D but he told me that the soldering iron that Asus used has a different composition from a normal soldering iroin. idk if this is true or what. :p is it?

he's currently out on a hunt for the same metal tip as the charger. his plan is to cut the wire, and solder it together with the newly bought metal tip. lol

anything just to save me from spending moolahs :D

Instead of buying a new metal tip and getting on with the original plan, a nice electrician reconnected the one cluster of wire to the metal tip. (i'll show you pictures later) but after he did he declared the charger is now grounded. idk if it lacks voltage or is over, too scared to plug the adapter to my laptop.

are there other cons that i need to consider if i tried charging my laptop with a lower watted charger? i'd like to try it only for the mean time. :)

Your system won't work that responsive. Or in other cases it wont charge your battery. I had the same problem with my Dell latitude d505. My laptop became a lag monster.

Using an underpowered AC adapter will have at best unpredictable results, at worst it will damage your components from running them out of spec. In other words, don't do it.

Wow. Good job. Hopefully that would be the last problem you will encounter with your G73. :)
