I don't have my laptop in front of me but this is bugging the hell out of me. Does the G73 bios include an option to disable the built-in speakers?

I have the G73JH-A1 with BIOS 211 (latest) and there is no option to disable the stock speakers. You can turn off the post sound though in the advanced tab.

You can mute them in the Windows Mixer.

I just wanted them physically off because I use my headphones 90% of the time. The problem was when I don't have them plugged in and the sound is loud and wakes up my kids.

you cant disable the speakers without the device so the headphones wont work to, but maybe you can open your notebook and pull out the speaker cable.

Would be nice if we could create a profile that sets sound on mute when headphones are not plugged in. I'm not having troubles with my kid since she's old enough... but her mother...

Pulling out the speakers cable mite be the only way, although a bit extreme for my taste

I actually just pulled that speaker wire out since I'm in the middle of replacing my keyboard. During login the subwoofer still had sound lol.

Pretty sure you can disable the speakers through the sound control panel, not 100%.

...or get some USB headphones and disable the speaker playback device in the OS.
