As the title suggests: I would like to buy an AMD 5870M to swap into my G73JH. New or used - doesn't matter to me.

My question is: Where might I find a place to buy one? I've checked ebay and there are dozens of listings for this GPU but I'm not sure which one is the right one. Some of them say "Alienware M17X" but I'm not sure if that's the correct GPU.

Thanks very much for your time.

You need a Asus 5870M... It is an inverted MXM cards so the Alienware ones won't work..

It is not inverted but asus modified board. That said you can use other vendors 5870m with necessary heatsink mod to fit over standard mxm board as asus one is not completely standard. And if I am right it need driver modifying to be able to install on non asus 5870m as hardware ids are different from original asus 5870m.

It's not a simple process as pointed out but doable.

Since it's an asus specific part it can be hard to come by.
