    Hi there-

Im about to buy an Asus G73. I was looking at buying it from a vendor called Xotic PC, as the price seemed decent and I want to have a SSD installed.

I was checking over their resellerratings and they were very positive. Almost too positive. Pages and pages of glowing 5 check reviews with correct grammar and punctuation. Too good to be true?

If anyone has had any experience with this company I would love to hear it. Or any suggestions for other custom laptop vendors where I can have a SSD put in before it arrives.

    Thanks.

P.S. A lot of these places charge $500+ for an upgrade from 720 to 840. Does that seem high to anyone else?

I bought my A1 from Xotic, they were excellent, answered all of my questions and even threw in a few things I didnt expect. For example, I ordered my A1 when they were still on back order, in my order, I requested the 820...while waiting the 840 came out, so I emailed them about it, and they went ahead and gave me the 840 at no additional charge (granted of course I had already paid for the laptop in full and the 840 isnt that much more then the 820).

They also apply IC Diamond thermal paste to any processor upgrade (at least for the g73) so I believe them to be one of the best for taking care of their customers in that regard. Furthermore they will stress the computer before they send it out, making sure there arent any outstanding flaws. They were very nice in answering all of my questions and updating me throughout the process. All in all I would buy from them again...those reviews arent too good to be true :)

xotic is overwhelmed with their sucess, I think the backorder on g73's from xotic is still extremely long. My order was estimated at 1~2 months.

If you can't wait gentechpc.com has the same hardware without the wait, and arguably, the world's most helpful CSR.

Ive heard that gentech is pretty good too, cant go wrong with either in my opinion

However xotic hasnt had a wait list for the A1/A2 for a couple of weeks at least.

It's been almost 2 months since I dealt with the lineup.

good to hear it's died down.
