I'm trying to remove the faceplate to the DVD-ROM on a G51Jx, and I'd rather not break it. I've tried gently so far and am not getting anywhere. Any help, please?

You will notice small plastic tabs holding it in place. Those are fragile, but they do require a minimum of force to get free. You could use a small blade or screwdriver to help prying them to remove the faceplate.
