Good afternoon all. As a impulsive buyer I am feeling the need to buy this game as soon as I'm off work.

My predicament is not really a huge one, but a minor one.

You see, I have a PS3, a 360 and now this new laptop.

I find my real "FPS" skills are with a Keyboard/Mouse where I have more precision and better reflexes. I also find that I'm a huge achievement and therefore I like to play on 360/PS3....

I guess I've decided internally that I'll get it for the PC, but I am wondering if G73JH would run it as well as I want it to.

Has one bought it yet? I know my machine surpasses the minimum requirements with ease, I was just curious about anyone who's played it yet.

    Thanks!

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. It looks as though this game has no problem running on the G73 at all :)

    You rock.

Just wondering now about the multiplayer aspect. People are saying it's "choppy". While not related to the actually horse power of the machine itself, it's likely something to do with the millions of people trying to play. I'm sure it will smooth out over time...

Since my main focus for getting this game will be the multiplayer (of course!) I hope this game doesn't let me down as much as Fallout New Vegas did for PC... Holy that hurt my heart.

Working great on my G73, have not bench marked it yet but it is smooth playing so far.
I have not found any games that do not run really well on the G73.

The CoD games are impeccably optimized for performance. that's what makes them so good! I'm sure you'll have no worries w/ running Black Ops at max settings.

I've been reading the same. I'm sure they'll release a fix for that soon enough (and likely before Bethesda fixes that pos New Vegas...).

You're welcome my brother. I had problems connecting to a Zombie MP an hour ago, think it might be my end, but I won't get to MP anything until tomorrow maybe.
I do currently have a SP Campaign vid rendering that has max settings with vsync on/off to show the screen tear. It's not as bad as other games, but it's plain to see.
Just a quick look seems like avg somewhere 40s and I've seen dips to high 20s, and I picked some highly explosive scenes. Pretty smooth for me, but I don't need the 8xAA.
It will be uploaded by this evening.

EDIT: After watching the 12 minutes of gameplay, I'd say it's fair around mid to high 30's for an avg. All the heavy action was in low thirties and I only seen it dip to mid 20's a handful of times.
Vid is 1080p and has 3 hrs to go for upload.

Haha, been good, gonna go check out your vid and drop a comment. By the way, do you use a controller? Xbox 360 one by any chance? I just recently ordered a wireless receiver for it, hopefully that works.

Running on my G73JH just perfectly. All settings maxed.

And as far as the lag, Treyarch is really good about fixing bugs quickly, so we should see an update soon to resolve the lag issues *everyone* is facing.

oh, and running the 10.10d drivers with MLAA enabled, that Chastity posted a little while back.

Just for "max". 2xAA is just fine.

What's your opinion of the MLAA on it?

You have not tried Empire total war with darkmod or shattered horizon. To get a fluent gameplay you have to drop down details on 1080p. Cod's game engine is not so demanding and it is old.

Finished the campaign, and i run it on max.

Lags a bit here and but it seem more like optimisation problem than anything else.

Yeah the game runs pretty damn smooth on the G73 without a doubt. I never ever use Ansiotropic filtering or AA, but I have Ansio up to max, and AA on 4x.

Do I notice an image difference? Maybe if I looked side by side, but otherwise I just turned them on because I could. What am impressive machine.

However, I am eagerly awaiting the fix for the silly stuttering in MP.

    Tip for everyone:
    edit players/config.cfg->
    seta r_multithreaded_device "0" -> seta r_multithreaded_device "1"
    ...
    seta r_multiGpu "1" -> seta r_multiGpu "0"

Definitely helped with minimum FPS for me.

Thanks man. I did this last night. While it did make an improvement in gameplay, it did not correct the stuttering issue everyone seems to be experiencing.

The game runs like butter in between the micro freezing.

I use 10.7 and in big fights on mission 2, I get 20-25 minimum FPS, kinda low compared what Quaqmire showed on his video :(

Don't care much about multiplayer, only played COD games so far for singler player. btw, EU servers are quite laging atm, so many EU gamers have to play on US servers which are better, but still not perfect.

But how on earth does Quag get almost 2x more avg FPS?!

Did you get it figured out yet, I can't think of what it might be for you. I've been running the 'Operation 40' level again with 0xAA to direct compare to my vid and with 8xAA and the multithreaded config adjustment (thanks again for posting that ).

The config adjustment did take care of the lowest dip when it hit 19FPS sliding down the zip line (stayed at ~30FPS) and helped some elswhere to keep from the mid 20's. So that change will raise your all important MIN & AVG FPS.

The test vid for the 0xAA didn't change the FPS much in some areas of heavy particle and vegetation scenes, but other scenes like the car getaway, some firefight and indoors, the FPS took off and this will raise your HIGH & AVG.

So imo, you need both. 0xAA will up your AVG and HIGH, but won't do much for the low 30s during heavy combat/grass and it won't help those dip areas much, and I agree nikolai090, 0xAA looks fine.

With the multithreaded adjustment and 8xAA maxed, the G73JH can still run it very well in SP and that kind of AA does make it look better on my HDTV. Certainly don't need it for the G73 screen.

    MP gaming and testing tomorrow.

Read that the COD BO is actually borked on PC. It's running more resources on the CPU rather than the GPU as it should. Reading people who have monster desktop rigs also complaining. Should be a patch or something soon. Treyarch sucking rofl as expected.

It feels like im running on Furmark when i play this game. HW Monitor registered the highest to be 82C.

At the same time, a larger scale game with much better graphics and more players actually run far cooler than BO. Hits 70C as far as i know.

So, I'm guessing that the performance issues that have been reported only affect some users and not everyone?

I really want to buy this game for the PC since I prefer the mouse+KB setup versus the Dual-Shock 3 but I placed my purchase on hold until I'm sure the issue's fixed. Or maybe I just get the PS3 version instead.

I'm running the game through my Plasma at 1080p, everything maxed but corpses set to medium and 2xAA. The game clearly has optimization issues as the FPS can vary wildly for no justifiable reason, but it's mostly very playable at 40-70 FPS with occasional hiccups when the performance briefly crashes from 70 to ~30 FPS.

Talking about SP here. Damn good SP campaign, too.

In particular, the car scene. Up in the 60s to 90s (0xAA and Vsync off) except for right when you go forward, instant drop to 30, like a cutscene took over for a second when really, it's all a cutscene.

It seems the issue is well known and hopefully Treyarch will do something about it. Wouldn't hold my breath considering they never fixed the terrible control/hit detection WaW. Seems all the flaws of that game carried over to BO.

Heh, me I'm going to wait and see what the former Infinity Ward crew will come up with instead and with every game release, I prefer EA over Activision.

Same here , I have never gone over 65c with any game so far. And I have played for many hours.

I played Arma II the other day for over 7 hours and looking at the record of my temps I was at 65c for most of the time, but there where some at 61 so I guess every thing is working fine for me in the heatsink and cooling area.
