COD: Black Ops + G73JH

Sorry about the last post, Yes I get in the low 80's c on the gpu temp when playing.
I was using the wrong temp lol.

My last game was 84c after playing for a few hours. So you are just about right for the temps.
The temp you reach has a lot to do with the temp of the Room where you are using your Computer. So keep that in mind .

 

Yea, it just keep getting warmer here.

I wont touch my G73 when it's about 45c ambiance here. The laptop would reach 90+ on full load.

 

I've heard that it's been maxing out the CPU rather than the GPU on a lot of people's systems... (not specifically the g73) in both SP and MP.
I'll be installing it tonight.

I have little problem with this game on G73jh. I am using 10.10d drivers and my settings are 1920*1080, 16AA, and all settings set to max. My FPS are about 45- 60FPS but problem is with GPU usage it's only 35-75% in game. Sometime my GPU not even use 3D clocks only 405/1000 Mhz and at that time I have big FPS drops. Where is the problem? I have latest patch for game.

 

You may be having the same issue that some others are seeing using the version of the driver that you are using.
Have you been on Youtube before playing the game? Or any site like that.

Some are having there GPU clocks not run up to where they are supposed to be after playing videos on the video sites. It seems like it has something to do with the new patched video driver. I am not sure on this as it has just come about . Or it could be your program that you are using to monitor the GPU , although I do not think that is it.
One of the users said they had to reboot before playing the game for all to go back to normal. So you might try that and see what happens.

Or you could go back to the 10.10 video driver as I do not think anyone had this issue with this driver as far as I have read.

And I have not seen this issue as I went to Adobe and downloaded there new Beta Flash player, the 32bit and the 64bit and installed them both . That seemed to fix my system to where this is not going on. You might give that a try also to see if it helps .

Just remember that if you load the Beta Flash drivers you will have to uninstall them your self before you install the new ones when they come out, it will give you the data when you go there. But they do work fine as I have been running them for a while.

 

Haven't read the whole thread, but those vids are killer. Does this support cross-platform play against/with people on 360? (Sorry for the OT post)

 

Thanks BattleNut, yes I was on youtube so it can be the problem with it. I am going to update drivers to 10.10e with hotfix then I will update flash drivers and I will try the game.

 

No cross platform, unfortunately. We'll pawn the 360 with the graphics we have on PC and our speed with keyboard and mouse.

 

Cool it's working now FPS are between 51 and 94 and game is without lag at the same settings.

 

There is a write up on Microsoft's site some where about when they did a test on this , PC v Xbox 360. It was supposed to be setup this way on Xbox Live as they talked about from the first. But when they did the test the PC and mouse + Keyboard just wiped out the 360 in games play, They said it was because of the controller that the 360 users had to use. They where just not fast enough at aiming or selecting options like we can on the Pc.
So they decided that it was an unfair advantage for the PC.

It is a very good read , and this is why M$ shut off the PC from being able to join on XBOX Live. You can do a search and find the story as I do not have a link , and it was a few years ago when this was written.

I am uploading a Domination vid for you all to view.......so far Black Ops is great but going from M W 2 to this felt weird at first...lol....Black Ops feels more realistic and the one thing that bugs me is after you make a kill you can't tell you did....as in you see no points after a kill sometimes.....might be a bug who knows....but it feels like a solid game....there are just a few bugs that need ironed out......enjoy the vid when I upload it... ....oh and my temps whill playing stay at a solid 70c.....I have the BST7 G73 from best buy......any game I have ever played my GPU temps have never gone above 71-72c...

 

I'm not sure if you all know, sorry if someone has said this, but all I had to do was turn shadows of and left v-sync on and the game hasn't lagged or stuttered once when it used to every second. So now it is completely smooth.

Well, so far so good with the shadows tip, just wanted to thank those that recommend that change... I'm amazed that eliminated the lag, but it sure enough did. Runs perfectly smooth now. Needs to be fixed, I want the shadows, but at least it runs fine now.

 

Realistic? I don't consider any of the recent COD to be even tactical anymore, pure arcade to me. Reload is way too fast. The quick sniping is retarded. The knifing don't even have to aim. I'd love to see anyone stab a knife through the bullet proof vests that are being used by the US, Brits, Russians, Israelis, Koreans etc that are knife resistant. Being able to knife someone that quick right at the neck avoiding the armor and helmut etc while under duress be next to impossible. Sorry, COD series recently are a joke. Just like KF and other games, you should at least have to aim your knife and be at the right distance. As it is, COD is just laughable when it comes to realism. There isn't a shred of it. Granted it's a game, but COD IMO is flatout joke. The quick drop to prone and shooting also boggles my mind why that hasn't been removed yet.

It's definitely a game made for console kiddies who just want to rack up their k/d ratio with idiotic bonuses and kill streak idiocies. None of the FPS I realize are "realistic" but at least BC2 and ARMA aren't moronic and stupid like COD.

 

I never seen someone so hostile over a game.

 

the only thing realistic is the deaths....you die fast in black ops where as in M W 2 it took 15 bullets to kill ya...lol...that's what I meant...still for me a great game....everyone has an opinion...

 

Off Topic: How quickly you die depends squarely on your difficulty setting. I have played the last three games on Veteran level, and can tell you, it does provide a heck of a challenge.

What I really miss is the old mechanism of a fixed health bar (not the HUD). Finding med packs with a fixed amount of health made sense, and made
the experience far more tense and concurrently more satisfying. This crouch & recover mechanism is utter b.s. and indeed childish. You might as well have regenerating shields (oh wait they do...but in Viet Nam?!).

On topic: No lags here. Updated to the new patch and changed the config.ini, corpses set to medium, and everything maxed out. FPS varies between 30 - 45 most of the time with temps reaching as high as 92C.

 

Wow, this thread sure blew up from my original post.

I will try to bring it back on track. I did end up purchasing the game, it's great, I am having a ton of fun with it.

These were my feelings pre and post patch from Steam. The stuttering was killing me (literally in game) but I still had a great time.

Post patch was even better because I was no longer dying so much from the stutter. However, other players are now a lot better since they're no longer being stutter killed - as a result I am probably dying just as much because other players are so damn good

I did make a few changes to the config which did result in performance gain. These were likely mentioned earlier, but for fun I'll post them again.

I don't recall what they were exactly but it was to do with the multGPU setting. This was set to a "1" but I changed it to a "0" and got a noticeable improvement. Another was multiThreadedDevice which was set to a "0" and I set it to a "1". This seems to be sticking now with the newest patch, however the multiGPU setting does not and therefore I must set my config file to "Read Only" so the setting doesn't revert.

Decided to take the plunge on the PC and got Black Ops awhile ago. Running it at 1080p with no AA, corpses at medium and everything else at maximum.

Plays pretty nicely in SP with slight stutter here and there even after the patch - have yet to try the config.ini tweaks yet though.

 

I'm playing 1920x1080 with everything maxed and aa set to 2x. I'm getting constant 40 - 70fps multi and singleplayer, guess the patches helped much.

 

Asus g73;
running 1600x900, everything set to max except corpses at med (coz i dont see the purpose of high corpses), AAx16..yup! Avg FPS in SP is 78-80. There are occasional 30+FPS dips but only last for 1-2secs. Im not even running Turbo mode nor do i have anything overclocked.

Ok, I just picked this up on ebay for $36. I played a ton of COD on my xbox360, but that is gone so now it is time to master the mouse and keyboard. I've been practicing on Crysis for a month or so but I still pretty much suck compared to how I was on a game pad, hopefully I'll get better soon.

Anyhow...WHAT is everyone's Steam ID? I go by ValkerieFire. I'd like to play with my fellow G73 owners whenever possible. Most of my friends play TF2 but I'm more of COD guy. See ya out there....

no shadows. vSynch on

almost 60 stable FPS everywhere...
but spawn point... using latest driver (since 11.3 I believe) my FPS dropped even down to 28 fps on average spawn point with 11.4 wich is totally disappointing...

Using same config and either 10.12 or 10.8 in same areas (havana spawn point, berling wall spawn point to give you an idea) I get something like 45/35+ FPS and they rise way more quickly

I am running chastity vBios, I just wondering how is possible that BO performance goes down each upgrade they do...

Are you getting similar FPS?

10.8 - 78^c
10.12 - 72/76^C

11.x - 66/69^C maybe I saw the gpu once on the 70ish

which is even too low if you ask me...
