Since I'm repasting my GPU this week, I was wondering if many people here repasted their CPU?

Is it worth it? Or the main temperature problem is really with the GPU? It voids the warranty right?

My idle temps are about 45C, wich seems correct to me, but I would like to compare them with other people's temps here, just to give me an idea.

cpu doesnt need re-pasted at 45 idle. maybe worry at 60+

it would be very similar to pasting the gpu, a gpu is really just a specialized cpu

you will void the warranty if you repaste cpu, because it has a seal. this is not the case on the gpu.

You will notice minimal difference when repasting the CPU I have done it with AS5, MX and IC7 and noticed a couple of degree's at most and it has only benefits me slightly with max temps as they dropped from 71oC to 68oC while overclocking.

If you are in there feel free to do it if you dont mind voiding the warranty but you might not notice any changes and could quite possibly increase the temps.

I'm curious as to how you repased your CPU, did you use the pea method as well or a line of paste given the shape of the silicon chip. Not that i plan on repasting my 720qm but if i bite the bullet and get a xm, i want it to run as cool as possible.

I repasted the CPU, I idle in the mid-high 30's and under max load I'm in the high 50's-mid 60's. I'm satisfied but I wouldn't repaste unless you're breaking the 90's mark.

Was this aimed at me chap? If so I went for the pea method with IC7 and like Kurolionheart's results I had pretty much the same at stock. Even with my PLL at 178 at max overclock I only hit 68oC max. The line method with IC7 will probably yield the same results mind its all about good conductivity remember as long as the surface of the CPU is covered IC7 will do the rest.

If you plan on the XM you really want to do a good repaste with IC7 to get the best benefit of its overclock.

Are the temps increasing a lot while overclocking the 720QM? Probably not worth the repaste

    5 or 6oC for me with 178PLL.
