I own an Asus G50VT laptop.
I recently bought Call of Duty Black Ops only to discover that it requires a 2.93GHz processor and mine has a 2.13GHz.
Is it possible to replace the processor on this model?
Thanks,
Adonai

Yep, you can upgrade up to a Intel Core 2 Duo T9900.
I think CoD Black Ops would run fine on a 2.13GHz dual though. Definitely test the game before you buy a new processor. -
See I thought the exact same thing, but I'm experiencing some serious lag in-game. I didn't think twice about buying it I thought it would run fine.
But you are sure that the processor is removable?

You sound like you know what your doing, so you probably already tried
I hope it doesn't need a 2.93GHz processor, cuz my Macbook only has a 2.4GHz -

Yes the lag is a known issue it is not just you who is experiencing it. People who own the G73JH with the ATI 5870 card also complained about lag as well as desktop users. I am sure the developers will release a fix soon.

Just because it states that it needs a cpu of that speed does not really mean that at all, it is a guideline to as the rated spec of the performance of the cpu. If you check the rating of the cpu, it is often rated at a higher performance than the stated speed. The gigahertz of a modern cpu really doesnt mean much anymore. I have the I7-740, and it is rated at 1.76 or something like that, and trust me, it runs black ops just fine. Also intel cpus have the turbo boost tech, that ramps up the speed of the cpu when only so many of the cores are being used.
The problem is.... Black ops seems to be broken from the gate, needs patching bad from what I hear, so while your cpu would most likely run the game, there is a good chance that you will run in to problems due to poor optimization of the coding of the game itself.
It's a hit or miss situation, and that is the biggest snafu with pc gaming, developers dont seem to care much if we can actually run the stuff they put out, just as long as it sells.
I just ran the can you run it program on my college hp pile of junk, and it only has a 2.4 ghz core 2 , and it states that the cpu is good enough, so I dont really think you should have too many problems with it, but there is no promise of good performance, only time will tell really
Can I replace the processor?
