Do any of you use the G73 on your lap? I love using laptops in my big comfy recliner :) ...but I'm wondering about heat

    Does the bottom run hot?

I suppose the vents in back would be a problem for my knees, right? Or not so much?

Thanks for any input you can give!

Works great on my lap, the exhaust ports are actually pointed upward and nowhere near my knees/legs, i just recommend leaving a small pocket in the middle of your legs for the intake at the bottom.

Interesting...I saw those upward ports, but I wasn't sure if they were angled up enough--it's great to hear that they are!

How about while gaming? The bottom is ok?

It will get warm, but not too hot, about as warm as the keyboard. It might get uncomfortable after a while since your lap isn't helping heat transfer underneath the notebook and the G73 can generate a lot of heat when solicited.

I game with my A1 on my lap all the time. No problems with CPU/GPU heat but my right leg gets warm :)

not really, every night I'm using it on my lap but i make sure that the laptop cooler is at the bottom so it can intake air from the bottom.. it also feels more comfortable for me when i use it with cooler and turn off... it has the best cooling system where a laptop cooler is not a need.. its pretty light and i never used the battery yet coz i only use this at home...

Does the air get sucked in from the bottom? I think I may have read somewhere that it comes through the front?

    Thanks for the replies!

It takes in air from multiple locations. They hid the intakes very well. "Stealthy"

I use a Zalman ZM-NC2000 laptop cooler. Only problem I have is now my legs are freezing instead of burning up.

Actually for me it's very cool, most of the time. Unlike every other laptop which runs super hot (and probably made me sterile) i can say safely the G73JH will not. But i am getting a cooler for it because i play games for long sessions. But even 3 hours of playing Crysis on near max settings, the bottom wouldn't get hot, even though the internal temp thing would say it's running a bit hotter.
