What is the definite Asus warranty (global, accidental if any) that comes with the X2 model from Microcenter?

I see TD is 1yr accidental, 2yr global, but some talk of MC being 1yr global only.

I know some of you have gotten the x2 there so I'd very much appreciate your knowledge.

It's 12 months global, with 12 months accidental.

Mine also came with a card in the box that said essentially that if I send it back within 60 days, I would get an additional 12 months accidental - if I understood the card correctly.

So 2 years of accidental or 2 years of global overall warranty?

    This is becoming very confusing.

Maybe the best way to know is call up the ASUS support.
They will ask you for your serial number.
From the serial number they can confirm how long the guarantee is on your machine.

The warranty on this is 12 months global, 12 months accidental. If you send back the accidental damage card that comes in the box, your 12 months global stays the same, but the accidental damage increases to 24 months.

I stand corrected. The warranty info I got and the card in the box must have been a screwup on Asus's part then.

Well, for kicks you could try entering the serial number and the purchase date into the ADW URL Npc1978 provided and see what happens. But, I suspect that even if that green lights you, when you send in a Microcenter invoice the goose will be cooked.

I bought one from Microcenter. ASUS can't sell the laptop with the ADW advertised on the box and then tell owners via a website that they aren't honoring it. This is false advertising. At no time did Microcenter or ASUS notify me before I made my purchase. It is clearly marked on the box(which I will keep just in case I have a problem) that it has 1 year ADW and Global. They will honor it or get sued.

That doesn't make sense. They warrant accidents but not defects? So why not just say a defect was caused by an accident?

It's a typo. Basically the -X versions get 1 year global warranty with optional ADW (depending on reseller and whether or not you sign up for it), the -A versions get 2 years global warranty and optional ADW (accidental damage warranty).

Well, that's not true either. My X1 from Newegg has a 2 year global warranty and optional ADW. I already registered it awhile back and the sticker on the bottom says the same.

Being from Microcenter that may be different, but it doesn't apply to all X models.

Yeah Microcenter, Bestbuy and a few other are specifically excluded from ASUS warranty goodies. Not fair but the price you pay for low cost goodness!

Wow, there's so much mis-information on this thread. Asus has never offered 2 years of accidental damage warranty. 1 year is the standard and max if it is even offered. The warranty card which you are suppose to mail in is to activate your accidental damage warranty - not extending the 1 year ADW by another year.

As for Asus laptops purchased from Micro Center, the official statement is " ...retailers are currently among the companies that do NOT participate in the ASUS 360 Notebook Service Program and Accidental Damage Warranty: Best Buy, MicroCenter, and The Source by CircuitCity in Canada". HOWEVER, this is not the case for recent units sold at these retail outlets. Some retail SKUs have 1 or 2 years (hardware) warranty and/or 1 year accidental. This warranty status depends solely on the arrangement between ASUS and the retailer. To make matters worse, not every retail salesmen/women are educated in this matter and you'll even often find warranty terms mis-printed on the retailer's website. Your best bet is to contact Asus directly and ask them. Take note of the SKU number and ask what type of warranty is covered on those particular units.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion here.

Great info. I suppose I should attempt to register it and see what happens with the warranty.

    Cheers,

Just to clarify, when I said ADW, I meant 1 year. I thought that was never really part of the discussion- the discussion was on the length of the regular warranty.
