Iv seen mention of this program called throttle stop and was wondering if it's somthing that would better my computer (g74sx-xn1). From what iv gathered it uncaps the turbo boost of the CPU or evens it out? Does the g74 suffer from this and are you guys using it? I looked at the program it self and it looks pretty damn confusing.. Any help here?

TS won't do much for you unless the laptop throttles (i don't think the G74 has this issue) or if you have a xm cpu with the right chipset which the G74 doesn't have.

That Throttlestop Guide ^^ Is so straight forward if aliens landed and took over the planet they would all be using XM processor's within a week.

Tijo is right though it will happily allow you to control your downclocks but you will have no access to the TRL and TPL's as they are locked on a QM model.

It is still a good monitoring tool if you run it in monitoring mode. The best one to get an accurate reading of your actual clock speeds when running benchmarks.

If you own a G74SX, it would be a good idea to run a ThrottleStop log file while gaming to make sure that you don't run into any throttling problems. Their test unit only had the Core i7-2630QM.

Yes you can post it here, either as a .txt attachment or just paste into the reply and wrap code tags around it.

If you paste it, i'd use a spoiler tag to hide the log, just so things are nice and tidy.

Was over on the asus g series forums this morning and from what they say the g74 is effected. Chasity posted a guide on how to setup TS have to check and uncheck some boxes or somthing or other.
