Can the LCD be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol? What's the best way to clean it?

I'm looking for a safe and effective way to clean the smears off my G73JH's monitor. The supplied cloth doesn't work, the cloth + water doesn't work (that actually creates more smears), and I don't know what chemicals are safe.

I have a lot of Isopropyl 99.7% alcohol left over from my repasting mission - should it be safe to clean with this, or would it do something crazy like eat away at my screen?

Use a microfiber cloth dipped into some distilled water. Make sure it is damp, and NOT wet, otherwise it will leave smears. If it does leave smears, leave some part of the cloth dry so you can dry it off and wipe it down clean.

Do not use ordinary water. Ever.

The above worked like a charm for me.

    Those things are sweet!

My dad gets a lifetime supply of them because his company hands them out for their safety glasses that they have to wear. He gave me a box (1000 I think) for Christmas one time lol

I use some thing my mom uses for cleaning windows :D. I think it is better than alcohol and isopropyl alcohol because it doesn't vaporize that fast.

^ Wouldn't recommend using any sort of these window cleaning products due to their use of solvents... they're designed for glass, not plastic.

I bought some cheap stuff at Office Depot. Came with a microfiber thing (its a cloth wrapped up and in a plastic holder). Its a gel (very thing), so it doesn't run when you spray it. Cleans it very well, though it can leave some nearly invisible streaks, so I always go over it again with the cloth Asus included with the laptop.

    Hello,

I do my best to keep my fingers and other objects away from my screen. At that point the cloth provided with my baby, works just fine to remove the occasional electo-static dust build up. For my kids LCD panels tho - (they can't keep their fingers off) I've used the same thing as Chastity and others have suggested, which are those "eye glass" wipes - they don't have harsh chemicals and are ussually safe for glass and plastic.

    In Christ,
    Trav...
