I did a fresh install of Windows 10 64bits (1803) downloaded direct from Microsoft site in my GL503GE-ES73 notebook. The problem is that the touchpad doesn't work at all on Windows. If I try to install the Precision driver provided by ASUS, it fails with the following message:

"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected."

The touchpad works fine in BIOS Setup, and it worked fine with the older Windows 10 that came preinstalled in the notebook, so it is not a hardware issue.

I already tried running the setup as admin, installing the newest Intel chipset drivers, load the BIOS default. Nothing helped, and I can't use the trackpad at all.

    PS: BIOS installed is 303.

    Any hints?

    Carlos

I was finally able to install the driver. The problem is that before installing the touchpad driver, it is needed to install some other motherboard controller drivers. This is not mentioned anywhere. I found it when I ran the ASUS installer software from the original ssd (which came with everything pre-installed) and installed the components in the same order it was listed in the application. It is a shame that ASUS support wasn't able to help. Its not possible that they didn't have this information.

Which controller driver was needed before you could install the touchpad driver?

I guess it was the Intel Serial I/O driver. If you plan to do a fresh install, my advice is to use the ASUS Installation Wizard utility. It seems to install everything in the correct order. I wish ASUS support would have told me that.

Extract to any folder and run the executable.
