I've been having some BSOD problems (which is weird as performance is great and no changes have taken place) and I thought a clean install would remedy this problem.
So uninstalled driver, CCC, went into safe mode and Performed AMD Display sweep with Driver Sweeper.
And then I logged in to install a driver and the stock 5870 driver that came with my laptop installed by itself without any prompts. So I thought alright, I'll just let CCC do it's thing then. Launched 11-9_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl, got a blue screen during the installation.
So I repeated the above steps again, except this time I ran 11-12_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc, which was what I was using before these problems started. And it seems to install CCC fine but had a hiccup during the SDK Runtime phase of the installation process. Therefore the installation ended with one of those yellow caution signs saying that there was an error during the installation. And immediately after exiting out of the Installation window CCC tried to run itself but couldn't as it kept crashing. So I uninstalled it and now I'm just running on the stock driver without any CCC.
I'm have the ASUS G73-JHB1 with Windows 7 Home and the latest service pack installed. BIOS and vBIOS up to date to the best of my knowledge (only...2 GSODs since my purchase 1 and a half years ago?). I doubt these are the sources of my problems anyway.
So clearly I'm doing something wrong, is it because I'm trying to install new CCC with the stock driver? If so, how can I install a new driver without the old driver installing itself every time I started up my computer after uninstalling it? Please bear with me here as I really did try Forum Search and google to no avail. As I think the ROG forum is down at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

Try the clean install again mentioned toward the end of this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/7484301-post2.html
verify that vbios is 012.020.000.032.038352 with hwinfo32 or 64 -

I have a G73 too and also have issues installing new versions of CCC.
The uninstall never completely works so I cant install the new version
correctly.
What I found that works is I need to go to the CCC installation folder and
run the uninstall from the command line. This does uninstall it correctly. -

Much thanks. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did.

You could try the full installer: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/11-12_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe. This file usually works for me when the standard download form ati is trolling me.
Once the file unpacks and starts installing, if it still doesn't install properly, try forcing the driver to install manually via the device manager. The driver will be located somewhere in the unpack location, the default one is C:\ATI, from there browse the various folders until you hit one called bin64 if i recall correctly. If the driver installation was successful, windows will ask for a restart, restart and run the installer again. -
Because as I mentioned before, every time I remove the old driver from Device Manager it re-installs itself upon restart (does this in safe mode as well).
So does that mean I should just uninstall, then directly install afterwards without running driver sweeper? -
You can try to install over, it worked for me every time i did it. When i installed 12.2 today and uninstalled it afterward (long story), i was reverted to 11-12, but driver sweeper in safe mode completely removed everything and i was on the stock windows driver. Installing over should work, but given your unusual situation it may not. No harm in trying at this point though.

Kuudou couldnt find the post but I have the same/similiar issue with new drivers.
CCC will install ok but not the driver. I cannot update the driver from CCC.
Uninstalling CCC from Windows Uninstall does not remove old driver.
This is what works for me. Reinstall CCC. The driver portion will fail but that is ok.
Go to the CCC installation directory ( like C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9-REV_vista64_win7_dd_ccc_wdm_emu\BIN64 )
and from a command prompt execute atisetup.exe uninstall.
This should remove CCC and the driver. Your system will revert to the
VGA dsplay driver. That's ok just reboot. Old driver should not reinstall automatically.
Reinstall new CCC with driver. If it fails on the driver then go to the CCC directory again
and execute atisetup.exe install output screen. When complete reboot again.
You must be logged in as a Admin account to install/uninstall. -
Moderators: Please consider this issue solved. Much thanks.
