Quick question - I'm having trouble typing and gaming while the synaptic pad is active, my cursor often goes ape. I want to turn it off completely, what i want is that section of the laptop to be another piece of plastic.

I've tried disabling, uninstalling but to my illiterate eye the microsoft ps/2 mouse driver is connected to the synaptic pad and reinstalls itself on every boot up.

When i am able to fn+f9 and turn off the pad there's a tiny corner on the top right which is still active. Is there something i'm missing?

I'm not sure why there'd be a corner still active if you turn it off with Fn+F9, but you can totally disable it in the BIOS setup. This may not be as convenient as the hotkey, but it'll work.

I'm not familiar with switching it off via BIOS but am completely happy with that alternative.

Yeah just reboot and hit F2 a few times and you'll get to the BIOS setup where you can disable it.
