You installed the Synaptics V15.3.43.0 from Asus' site, correct? If that's not working, then it's probably an incompatibility with Windows 8.

Which leads me to ask... Why would you "upgrade" to an unfinished beta version of Windows? Why not install it on a seperate partition?

Pat, CP - Mouse settings- device properties - do you have check box to disable the TP?
Pat you need to open the desktop on win 8 CP to get to the screen that Tijo linked below.

I did, until i realized it ate 25gbs off my 240gb SSD, so i tested it for a few days and everyhting was working fine and still is except this one little annoying thing, but i decided to scrap the partition and install over windows 7 which i dont regret a second, except when i type on forums and touch the tp without realising and then when im done i see my message makes no sense

Ive participated in windows 7 beta also, last time it was actually called a beta and i can tell you that you are totally misinformed and misguided if you think this version is an unfinished beta, it workd 100% and has absolutely no issues...my pc hasnt crashed once or had a single lockup, lag or freeze or anything else

    there is no device properties

I actually have discovered the same issue. It may have been working initially after upgrade before I reinstalled ATK, or it may have been broken. I generally use an external mouse anyway, and currently have my touchpad toggled off via the mouse properties page you posted above.

I don't really understand what might have changed with the Synaptics drivers in Windows 8 or how ATK toggles that function, but it's a very very minor gripe to me.

Aside from that, I had to disable the Action Center from updating drivers and hide the Windows Update Radeon drvier available via Update because it directly conflicts with the "Logitech Gaming Software" application that manages my wireless G930 headset. I am pretty happy that I upgraded though, because the Logitech smooth scrolling application for my G700 mouse will not install on Windows 8 natively but because of the upgrade it's still isntalled/working.

Realtek/Creative SB X-fi MB2 is working perfectly and all of the other drivers/support software is working fine and rock solid stable.
