    Hello,
I bought an Asus ROG GL552JX laptop recently, which I later found out had a TN panel, not IPS as I had thought. Apparently DM291D series come with TN tech :( HWInfo says that my screen model is AUO36ED, which my research indicates is a crappy panel to say the least.

My experiences are mixed. When I had opened up the laptop, I was pretty disappointed, the colors were washed out and the whole thing appeared dull and dark. However, after calibrating the monitor with Spyder 4, I managed to get some decent results.

The monitor has a color gamut of 56% of sRGB which is kinda low, even for a TN panel. Spyder 4 rated the monitor at 2.5 stars out of 5, which is why I am looking to have it switched with an IPS panel. I know the GL552JX comes with IPS panel, so is it possible to have this one switched?

I was also wondering if I could go for a better panel. That IPS screen on the new Strix GL502VT seems like a beauty with its 98% of Adobe RGB profile. Since this is also 15.6 screen, could it be used in the GL552JX too?

    Thanks!
