    Today we have:

NVIDIA Notebook Drivers 265.96 from Asus

    Atheros AR5B95 v9.2.0.113

    and for everyone...

    Windows 7 SP1 RTM x64 :D

(also some mirrors and torrents by My Digital Life)

Basically, if you've been having issues with Sleep, Hibernate, and a lot of other issues, get this now.

    Sorry for being a noob.

Is the SP1 a straight update or does it do a clean install?

    Driver Page Update?

That means an update to another page (thread) right?

Then why is it a new thread instead of updating the old one.

    Windows 7 SP1 RTM x64:

"While the service pack, which is shared between Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, comprises a collection of all the latest bug fixes and security patches to have been released since the launch of the operating system, Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc has confirmed that Windows 7 users won't be getting any new features if they choose to install the update."

    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/2010/10/27/windows-7-sp1-rc-released/1

Is that true? Cause then I won´t wait for a 8-10 hour download to finish!

Does SP1 has anything useful or just all the fixes released so far in 1 pack?

Installed SP1. Increased the size of the OS partition for about 2 GB. After 1. Reboot got a CPU usage of about 50 % in task manager. Went away after reboot. Cleanup in SP1 misses to delete a folder on the OS partition. Normal delete was impossible because the file system reported an error. Had to rename the folder and subfolders to decrease the length of the filenames. WEI dropped from 6.6 to 6.5. 3DMark06 didn't run successfull anymore. Restored my OS partition with an image without SP1. This happened on a HP 8530w, T9900, Nvidia FX 770M, 8 GB RAM, etc.

    "Service pack installation cannot continue"
"one or more of the system components hat the service pack requires is missing"

The help button talks about using vlite, and how to edit the registry to remove any mention of it. Problem is, I didn't use vlite and there is no mention of it in my registry anywhere.

    guess I don't need SP1!

Find the device in device manager and select update driver and then browse to where you stored the driver.

Umm guys, all u have to do is go to ctrl panel and do a windows update and it installs itself. It only takes 5 seconds.

so anyway, am I right in saying that sp1 is the final stable release? in other words, this is the perfect windows 7 version without any new updates that would cause a chance of errors.

If thats true then I'm all for it. I don't need updates if its perfectly stable. By not installing it, I'm under the impression that u will receive new updates (security and what not) that could compromise windows. Basically updates to test windows 7 further that would lead to the next sp.

That said, confusion and all, I did install the previous version of the driver (V9.0.0.222) and everything still seems to work fine.

No instances of the athryx.sys BSOD I used to get. Still too early to tell though. That BSOD was random as hell.

Except there is none on Windows Update yet. The one you see being "rumored" as SP1, is a prerequisite everyone must install before updating to SP1 using Windows Update (the standalone installer doesn't require this).

It's Atheros AR5B95. That's the one I got in my unit. I'll try and dig one up for that AR9285.

I needed a way to announce updates without linking to the other page.

Apparently linking offsite when a NBR link is available is a violation of NBR rules, but no way am I going to maintain a mirror here on NBR. I have enough work to do as it is. :D So I'll post the updated links there, and make an announcement here. BTW, can you please redirect your SP1 questions to another thread? I just want to use this one for future announcements.

It appears Atheros AR9285's latest is still 9.1.0.328, you can try using the 9.2.0.206 for Atheros 5XXX at your own risk though. It's kinda weird that Chastity's G73JH came w/ a different Atheros card tho.

The 5Bxx actually supports dual-band (it should have 3 antenna in it), while ours have 2 antenna and only work on 2.4Ghz. So if they did switch it for some reason, its her gain. :p

Thank you for the link. As I wrote, I restored a working image of my OS partition because of the worse performance with SP1. I will make another try if I could get an image of a Windows 7 DVD with integrated SP1. With this I will do a clean install.

Tried this but it says Windows has determined the driver is up to date (something like that) and no update were done even though my driver version is 9.0.0.222. So anyone installed the win7-9.2.0.113-whql successfully?

    Thanks for your help mite_jan.

I actually have the driver package, just that when I tried to update the driver through device manager it always say Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date and it won't update even though I specify the folder the new drivers are in. Really appreciate your help.

try to install the MS driver ... when you go to update driver choose let me pick and it will show you all your drivers you had for the atheros card
so choose the one from microsoft (downgrade)
and after that try the newer one

OK got it. I think Windows doesn't recognise it properly due to the latest driver is without digital signature. I chose the Have disk then install the driver even when the without digital signature warning came out. Thanks for your hep again mite_jan.

    I´m confused...

My drivers are 10.11, the 10.12 was way too hot.

    Should I use this 11.01a?
