All I can say is ... LOL!

I updated the chart for the new beta3 BIOS, and seems to be a winner here. While doing this I'm also doing a 4.25GHz overclock on my i7 950 desktop, and watching a recode follow through. After one BSOD, and some further voltage tweaks, my recode has passed the 50% mark in 47 minutes, so I think she's going to be stable. (highest core temp is 62C so far)

Chastity, I would like to ask what would be the difference if I would update to the following drivers found on your post:

Intel Chipset INF for Series 5 v9.2.0.1015
    Intel RST SATA Drivers 10.1.0.1008

    Thanks!

    Woah, nice work!

A review would be interesting. Or maybe a write up on performance tweaks to get the most out of the G73..

I like to keep my systems up to date. I mean Intel updated the drivers for something? :) The INF will update the core drivers to 9.1.1.1026, so at least you know all your Intel drivers are from the same build. The RST drivers are optional, considering the INF includes SATA drivers. SSD users would benefit the most.

Thank you so much for this guide! I'm not used to updating these core components but prayed and installed the vbios more as a prevention and it worked just fine. I have my G73jh for quite a few months now and have not had a problem *knocks on wood* so far since I got it.

HWinfo32 tells me my Bios is 204; should I update this as well? And how about the Ati drivers (which mine are also stock)? I play games a lot but mostly RPGs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect and I'm assuming they aren't as intense as things like CoD?

Again, I appreciate all you guy's efforts in help the users, especially the not so system software literate like me. XD

Alrighty, I was able to successfully install the new Bios, but I'm having trouble installing the new ati driver. I unnistalled and used the ati crap cleaner, but when I install the new one, it gave me a problem and now when I click on the catalyst center it gives me the following message:

"could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

Can you help me to fix that, please?

Edit: Tried installing again and here is the message it gives me when trying to install the driver: "Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I use Drivermax for updating, but it´s still at 9.1.1.1022 as the latest drivers!

    Any thoughts on that tool?

Edit: And Driverscanner just reported no outdated drivers on my system...

    Guess I´ll be un-installing some useless junk-programs!

So, somehow I managed to get rid of those messages. But now the problem is that I cannot open CCC whatsoever. It looks like it's installed; all the folders and files are there apparently, but whenever I click on the CCC wizard, advanced and such, they don't open. All I get is that blinking win7 circle that tells me it's "loading" but than it vanishes and nothing happens. The only ati-related process that shows on my task manager is something called 'atiedxx.exe'

    EDIT: (again!)
Now it works! I googled my problem and here is a quote from somewhere else which fixed my problem:

Here is the original source: [SOLVED] catalyst control center wont start??????????? - Rage3D Discussion Area

After uninstalling all the ATI stuff again, and using driver sweeper (safe mode) + cc cleaner, I uninstalled those DLLs (I had literally a dozen of them) and after that installed the 10.12 ccc again. Now it loads just fine!

I'm not Chastity, but which webcam is installed?

Go to device manager, double click the camera device to see its properties, go to the "Details" tab, and use the "Property" combobox to choose the "Device instance path" item. What is the text in the "Value" box?

    Hello Chastity :)

I've just downloaded the following from your post and installed them to update mine:

    Power4Gear Hybrid v1.1.42 (updated from 1.1.37)
    SmartLogon v1.0.0009 (updated from 1.0.0008)
    Splendid v1.02.0031 (updated from v1.02.0028)
Control Deck v1.0.9 (updated from v1.0.5)
    FastBoot v1.0.7 (updated from v1.0.5)
    Wireless Control 3 v3.0.19 (updated from v3.0.15)
ATK Package 1.0.0007 (updated from v1.0.0001)

I've noticed that the new ATK Package has added 3 new screen pop-up animation to the lighting button(beside the Twin Turbo button) which are the "All Lights On", "LightBar Off" and the "All Lights Off".

What do you mean by your description "Enable custom keys" on the ATK package by the way?

I've noticed that the G73JH download page on Asus it outdated and the G73JW download page tend to have only few of the version that you have uploaded.

Where have you obtained others that aren't on the G73JW and G73JH download page? By the way thanks for a comprehensive Applications/Drivers Download page that even Asus can't make a way for them to be seen easily.

    +1 rep for you :)

sorry, my two laptops are both Hannstars, so no I cannot make AUO profiles.

So how do you like it? When I made this profile, I wanted to keep the normal brightness levels. I made a few before, and really got one pegged, but it really caused a brightness drop. :(

No scientific analysis here - strictly user-experience...

I was using Splendid normal mode with EDID enabled in CCC. With your profile and EDID turned off it's pretty similar, but I do like it better. Didn't notice anything brightness-wise. In my test images I noticed better fleshtones and some textures that I've never seen before (nothing special about the images...just ones I've been looking at for years using them for development). Best black screen (and B/W contrast) I've seen on Eizo screen test too! If I notice anything else I'll update...

    Thanks again.

You can double-click it, or go into Color Management in Control Panel, and load it as your default profile.

Also, I changed my recommendations for Power4Gear Hybrid on my driver page. Using the newer versions on a JH/JW system will cause the CPU to stay in a C-State, even with Max Performance selected. This will cause the CPU to run slower, and impact performance. I linked a more proper for those machines with 1.1.37.

So if you are using 1.1.42, and have had lowish gaming/crunching performance, uninstall it.

It's been up for a few days, and it's a great website with plenty of informtion.

Yesterday my new G73SW-A1 arrived, and the first thing I wanted to do was reinstall, with my OEM Win 7 Pro 64bit DVD, but I'm damned if it would not except the license code.

I've been using it on my previous Acer 15" laptop which I wiped and reinstalled the recovery CD (win XP), so I could use my Win 7 pro on the new Asus, but it wont work.

Long story short I ended up using my OEM Win 7 Home Prem with the code on the bottom of the laptop, and ended up having to call the automated Microsoft phone line to activate it.

The point was I noticed there was a Win 7 Home Prem universal ISO on the ROG website I wanted to download for the reinstall, but the sites down.

Anyone know why my OEM Win DVD (the one in a white box) wont install on this laptop.
I've been using these for several home PCs I've built, and my Acer 15" laptop, it just wont seem to work on this Asus laptop.
