    Hi Guys,

I just bought a Best Buy G73 and I was wondering if you know any cheap backpacks it.

I am looking at the Targus Groove 17" backpack. Has anyone tried it with their G73?

I know what some of you are thinking, why get a cheap case for the G73. Well, lets just say that my initial budget was just for a BB G72 and I am beyond that now.

Too bad the XPS one is out of stock now.

    TIA!

Besides other threads about backpacks, it might help to get a response if you mentioned what you can afford to spend.

While I'm not a backpack enthusiast, I've been thinking about getting the Targus Black 17" XL Notebook Backpack Model TXL617. Supposedly fits the G73 and has lots of room for other items. Besides, it has a handle. :)

I decided to order one of the Targus XL's. The Dell XPS unit fits, but the laptop sleeve is a bit snug for the G73. Plus the blue and black matches my Company's color scheme, and is relatively inexpensive.

Please let us know how that works out. My hope is that once it's loaded that it doesn't get to awkward to carry around by the handle.

The Targus XL has arrived, and yes, the G73 fits the rear laptop storage compartment with ease. I can see larger units fitting as well.

Yes, it has lots of compartments, and the front flap is attached to the main case via 2 straps on top. This will allow for some flexibility with using the 2 storage pockets behind the flap. It has a second large compartment that can store books or a 2nd unit, tho not as securely. The front flap has several "quick access" pockets, including holders for pens, cell phone, and cards.

My only "big" complaint is the somewhat lacking shock insulation on the rear where the shoulder straps are, and laptop compartment, being reminiscent of the free Targus bag from Asus. The Dell XPS bag is far more protective, but then again, is also quite larger.

The XL also sports a waist strap for people who want additional support carrying it.

One of the Alienware reviews says not big enough for my 17" Asus laptop.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the replies. I tried the Targus groove and the G73 did not fit. The specs at the targus website are wrong.

Not wanting to do more trial and error, I just got the XL. The G73 does fit in comfortably but the backpack is HUGE!

I got the made-for Dell XPS back pack from Newegg, SERIOUSLY underpriced there and WELL worth every cent.

As far as size goes, your packing a 17 inch laptop, bag has gotta be pretty big honestly.

    Heres a link for it:
Newegg.com - Wenger Black 17" XPS Gaming Backpack Case Model DE-8300-02F00

Made by Wegner and VERY high quality and SUPER comfortable!

In searching this board for a backpack that would fit the g73 properly, I decided to go with the Alienware Orion. Here are pictures to assure anyone looking for a good backpack that this one will indeed flawlessly fit the g73.

Here you see the g73 in the laptop compartment. It is has exceptional padding, and it fits perfectly, with no forcing or stretching; it zips up as it should, and there is ample space so that the corners are not vulnerably pressing against the bag:

The bottom of the bag has rubber pads outside of the laptop compartment for added surface protection.

The only potential con I would note is that the shoulder straps are quite broad. For most men it should fit comfortably, but for the ladies it may be an uncomfortable fit.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I'd be more than happy to reply with more pictures as well.

Just picked up a Dell XPS bag off of eBay. Brand new: $44.99 shipped. I'm really excited. I was having a heck of a time finding something nice for my G73 without being $100+.

    AV1611 out......
