I'm thinking about doing a clean install of Windows 7 on my laptop. Now I have a Windows 7 CD from my old Dell laptop, I'm wondering if I can use that on this laptop.

And let's say the install is successful, I'm wondering if everything will perform like before? Because I did a clean install of my old laptop before and the resolution got lower plus my wireless card got wiped.

Can you guys give me any suggestions as to what to do after I do a clean install? Where I can I download some critical drivers and all?

Few things to consider. First of all, many restore/operating system disks are proprietary...not sure about the one you have.

Second, there's no reason why your system wouldn't perform better as long as you get the proper drivers installed. Do yourself a favor and go here now:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download

You'll have to path to the correct driver page for the G53JW...but you will be able to download the drivers you'll need after the re-install and burn them to a disk before you do the deed.

Reason your resolution and wireless card were messed up were more than likely due to the fact that you didn't have the drivers installed after the clean install.

Perhaps this might help you a bit. Hope it works out like you're hoping.

Ah, excellent. So from there, after the clean install, once I download those drivers, everything will be in 'functioning' order? Wireless card, touchpad, secondary key functions on keyboard, etc?

Yep. However, I only had luck with the Creative drivers by installing them from the driver disk included with the G53JW. The version(s) online always gave me an error. All other drivers from Asus' website worked fine.

I would also recommend reading these two posts thoroughly:
Complete Walk-through For Doing A Clean Windows 7 Install
    Asus Utility and Bloatware Guide

Read the Bloatware one to get an idea for the drivers/software you don't care for. If you've ever done a fresh install, the first post should be fairly straightforward.
