To Chasity or anyone else that can help me out. I appreciate it.
While reading through the forums, i gained quite a bit of knowledge. I was one of the users that never updated the vbios. I ran perfectly fine running bios 211, 10.8 drivers and OC using amd gpu 800/1100 and setfsb clocking in at 3.0 GHZ. Since its always better safe to be sorry, since i read of users 4months later having gsods and bsods. I updated the Vbios. First thing i noticed when runnign games was the gsods. But i also remembered Chasity somehwere on the forum stating with the bios and vbios OCing at 800/1100 is not needed. So i Downclocked to 750/1100, it stayed stable for the most part. Also noticed when OC'ing the cpu it flux's from 3.2 to 3.3 with the bios and vbios. Dont know if thats an after effect but heh i wasnt complaining.
Now i randomly decided to start from scratch, since some problems risen. Ran a USb win7 install. Went perfectly fine. Installed all the drivers via driver cd, except bloatware. While checking the Bios and Vbios, i noticed there still on 211 and chasitys vbios with OD enabled. I then continued to install 10.8 from the stock drivers on the CD. I started to encounter the CCC error, not allowing me to open up CCC.
My question is do i ahve to put the stock Vbios and Bios back? Then do a fresh install of win7? Or can i leave them as such but then i encountered that CCC error.
If you can, please guide me step by step after a fresh install of win 7 and all drivers from the cd have been installed. Thanks in advance.
Btw using G73JH-A1 Model

Woah, nowhere did anyone say an OC of 800/1100 is needed for stability. That's a full blown performance OC. The stability one was only 705/1000. Also, no OC should be necessary if you are using the new V93 VBios from Gary.
Second, when you do a fresh install of Windows it is recommended to install the most up to date drivers that are available. You do not need to revert the BIOS or the VBIOS. Download the latest Realtek HD Drivers and ATI Cat 10.8; loading the stock ones is a waste of time and changes. -
Oh yea i know but from Overclocking my 5870 on my desktop 800/1100 was stable on there so i figured a testing point of 800/1100 for mobile 5870 would do. If it didn't work i can go backwards from there, but it was stable none the less. Until i introduced Chasity's vbios with OD enabled. But anyways lol anyone aid me ina step by step fresh install of Win7 with Bios 211 and Vbios already installed?

Alright did it again. Ran a clean install of win7. Left out Bloatware and ATI Driver from the cd. When Drivers and everything where done. I installed 10.8. It catches it but when trying to open CCC it doesnt want to open and max resolution is 1440x1050 and the monitor is reading as Generic Pnp monitor
Checked devise settings and no yellow question marks. Any ideas? -
I'm a little worried your GPU is busted...
Might want to get some others' input, but last time we had someone with an unrecognized GPU in the device manager, it was because his GPU was busted and he had to RMA. -
I dont think the gpu is busted if it worked on the previous install.
On furhter investigation of both ati packages the 1 off asus site, when doing a custom install. Installs: Catalyst Control Center, ATi Catalyst Install Manager, ATI Display Driver, Hdmi Audio Driver, Avivo, Microsoft Visual
The 10.8 package only installs Catalyst Control Center, Ati Catalyst Manager and Microsoft Visual.
I think that's the issue but following what you said, not installing theres and goign straight to the updated version. And its a legit 10.8 as well straight off there site
-Edit-
Yep that was it. Seems i was downloading ati catalyst software instead of ati software suite. Honestly thought both were the same. But now another question arises. The HDMI driver and avivo are they necessary? In the 10.8 it had the ati driver but not hdmi driver. Yet when i tested the hdmi it worked. -
to get the HDMI/DP driver I download the desktop driver after I install the mobility ones and just install the HDMI driver.

Realtek's site has the ATI HDMI driver standalone on their support page for the soundchip drivers.
