Is it possible for someone to do an updated walkthrough on a clean install for the G73JH?

If not, that's ok, but I had some questions.

Instead of installing the ATI VGA and Realtek Audio drivers from the Asus CD/website, is it better to just get the latest (10.8) catalyst drivers from ATI and the latest audio driver right from Realtek?

I'm just wondering if there was a reason to use the Asus specific drivers, or if it's better to get the cleaner and more direct driver from the driver supplier.

Also, on a side note, is anyone else having problems playing Napoleon Total War with the latest 10.8 drivers with the new vBios? The campaign map for me stutters uncontrollably, making it impossible to play without my eyes bursting.

I would definitely try the latest and greatest direct from the respective manufacturers.

    This may also help.

    See:
Graphics — What order do I install my drivers?

Although I would normally install the chipset drivers first, I can see how the order in the link above might be more appropriate with the fast changing O/S 'base' that keeps being a moving target with all the constant updates.

I do know for a fact though that install order does make a difference - sometimes a make or break difference, so if you do decide to try that with your clean install, make sure to allow time to do it the 'traditional way' too:

Chipset, Video, Audio, Mouse, then all others.

    Good luck.

I know it's been a while since a reply, but I wanted to ask about something else.

Are the drivers provided by Asus different in regards to the driver direct from the manufacturer?

For example, is the Intel Chipset driver from Asus different from the one directly from Intel? Even the exact same version?

Same with the Realtek sound drivers, etc.

I just want to know if perhaps Asus modified the driver to work better on the specific notebook.
