Long story short: I cancelled an order I had w/ a seller on a Clevo because I was tired of waiting for the 7970m. I really only wanted to play me some D3 and BF3. I will just build my uber laptop 2-3 years from now.

With that said, anything I need to know or be concerned about w/ this laptop?
Also, I am buying it from amazon.. I'm assuming theres going to be a ton of bloatware.. any tips on what to keep/get rid of. Perhaps even just doing a clean install myself? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I'd get it from xotic or powernotebooks, better specs. Just get rid of wha you don't need or just do a clean install.

My tip, go back and re-order the P170EM. The G75M for the money is just not worth it, especially the hassle and cumbersome design Asus continues to use. Any custom changes or maintenance work is pretty much considered warranty voiding activities. And you have to remove the LCD panel just to reach the ram under the keyboard? It's completely obnoxious. Get the GTX 675M then with the P170M if you are tired of waiting, still get it for less than the G75M which only has the 660M or the 670M.

I also agree. The P170 is a much better value, especially with the 675m. You could even just get the 660m and buy an aftermarket 7970m when more are available.

The Asus G-series have good cooling systems, but aside from that, you can get better prices on better components elsewhere. Plus, the P170 has better upgradability for the future.

I agree with you too, I'm previously a G73JW owner, I still own one now, but I'm never going to buy ASUS again just because they won't put the best GPU in their laptop.

    Another vote for the Clevo,

I really want a PEM but will wait for the 7990M and then do finance again. You really should wait a few more weeks as it will prolong the life of your laptop by another 1-2 years so it would certainly be worth it.

The 7970M is double the performance of the card you went for, no brainer in terms of performance.

    Hi all,
Most of the websites say "preorder mid-june" for the 7970M. Do you think they will ever release 7990 as well for the Clevo?
The clevo has the windows key misplaced, though. I hate when manufacturers are messing with the keyboards... (Win+E, Win+R with one hand... gone)

The people have spoken! lol. Well I have 30 days to return it. I'm going take the g75 for a spin but most likely will do what you guys are saying and go back to the P170EM. Thanks for the input guys.

Yes they will most likely do exactly the same as the 6990M just raise the shaders and clocks and bleed everything they can out of the 28nm, people that have the 7970M are saying they wont make one, funny I remember the 6970M owners saying the same ;)

AMD is a company their aim is to make money if you can just take the same chip and get more performance out of it and sell it as a new model why wouldn't they do that, it is just like re-labeling and they will wait until the 680M is released which intends to beat down the 7970M with a rusty stick and then drop it Jan 2013 so that they can then get one over on Nvidia.

The thing is that HD7970M's TDP is already at 100W, the room left is next to non-existance for the HD 7990M from what I'm seeing here :D.

Yes that is what others are saying but the 6970M and 6990M when they had 2GB DDR5 both had 100watt TDP even though Notebookcheck lists the 6970M at 75-100watt tests showed otherwise.

With tweaking and tinkering they will be able to do it.
