I have owned the asus g73jh for almost 4 years and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, my wife spilled coffee on the keyboard the other day and it got damaged. I removed the keyboard and cleaned it the best I could, but the damage was done. Some keys do not work at all and some act like I press 2 or 3 keys at the same time. I have 2 questions:
-how can I find out if the keyboard or if the motherboard was damaged and it causes these problems? Are these symptoms specific for keyboard or motherboard damage related?
-are all g73 keyboards compatible with my g73jh bought from germany? Because the only replacement keyboard I found that ships to my country is for the US g73: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=310599117106&index=2&nav=SEARCH&nid=01491494763
Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

Hello. 99% its just keyboard that is damaged. As long as coffee was not in contact with mainboard then there is very small chance that something shortcuted becouse of keyboard spill. Yes all g73 keyboards are same with difference of special characters on keys. You can replace special characters on your new keyboard with old ones.

If it fits it's likely an original because asus models are not as big as say Acer or Dell.

Well, I ordered the keyboard and will come back with updates when I receive it.

My only suggestion would be just remove the old keyboard and soak it in alcohol and water mix then clean it all off and let it dry overnight. Kind of pointless since you already ordered a new one but it also isn't going to hurt anything since it was broken and may work fine once the coffee stains are soaked off of it.

I am a very sad man today.
I received my new keyboard today and excited I proceeded to install it in my laptop. It does not work. I managed to install it correctly, but only the backlighting seems to work properly. Absolutely no button works properly. Some work, but pressing them results in several other letters/numbers typed on-screen. Some don't work at all. On my old keyboard only a couple of buttons did not work ("esc", "1". "2", "q". "w". "r") and the rest did work perfectly. What is causing this? If it is actually a motherboard problem, should the 2 keyboards act exactly the same? The keyboards are not identical (I posted a couple of photos so you can see the differences) - maybe this is the problem.
I have no clue what to do...Attached Files:

If the data cable is different in any way the keyboard will not work.

Man looks like you got keyboard for asus K series laptops. Either you didnt check enough or seller pulled on you.

This is what I bought: Genuine New for Asus MP 07G73US 5283 0D013303234M Black Keyboard US Backlit | eBay
It clearly says G73... How could it be for the K series? :| -
If you search in google after Asus MP-07G73US-5283 youll see all results show that its for series K. And Seller dont say anywhere that keyboard is compatible with g73 series. That part number contains G73 does not mean its for g73 laptop. Sry but I think you should tripple checked before you ordered.
I checked on internet and g73 series part nr. is: 04GNV33KUS01-3
