Hello,
My G73jh instantly shuts down the moment a USB device is plugged into it. Just started happening today, but a few days ago I started having intermittent issues with the USB mouse input stuttering while playing a FPS game. I checked the windows event log and found two errors:
Error ACPI event ID 10
driver WUDFRd error
I also wrote this down shorthand: ACPI BIOS writes an illegal PCI operation region (0x4).
I googled event ID 10 and found it associated with bad motherboards and rootkits. Lovely. But I haven't found any g73 owners with a USB issue like this where just plugging in a device causes system shutdown.
NOTE: To get the computer to power on, I have to unplug the power cord and remove the battery first.
Please if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

Check this here The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error - Windows 7 Help Forums
Mostly the part about the windows service "Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework". Maybe some "optimization" tool decided to disable that service?
It could also be because of some broken USB driver/component. -

Have you tried another device in the port, or only the mouse? It does sound like it could be incorrect or corrupt drivers for either the port or the device being plugged into it.

If you reboot and go into the BIOS setup and plug in a USB device, does your computer shut down?
Computer shutdown as soon as USB device plugged in. Event ID 10
