    Greetings all,

Some background information - currently I've got a desktop PC with an Auzen X-Plosion 7.1 sound card that encodes into DTS/Dolby which feeds into a receiver/amplifier via a toslink cable. The receiver does not have HDMI inputs.

Now, I just recently brought an Asus G73JH and would like to hook it up to the same setup. Is that possible (does the G73JH even output 5.1)? I'm aware that the G73JH does not have S/PDIF but maybe I could somehow do it through the HDMI port? However, I do wish to connect an external monitor to the HDMI port. Any assistance/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    ssjwolf.

I know for sure that the G73JH can output 7.1 through the HDMI port. As to the SPDIF, I was under the impression that the headphone jack doubles as a SPDIF port. Some specs say it is, some say it isn't. I have no idea which is correct.

I have not personally tried this, but it can apparently be done. This was posted a while back, buried in the noise....
