Just wondering if we could generate a a list of cooling pads that would be large enough and effective for the G73?

I know most will say it is not necessary, but I want to make sure I have something for long uses of the machine.

I am looking for something effective and light/thin for portability.

    Thanks!

The G73's air-intake is above the keyboard (the area under the screen) so not much point in getting a pad...

And there's also an intake dead center on the underside. Some of the coolers with the big honking fans might be able to do the trick, if they're large enough to hold the laptop.

Just want to bump this thread to get some more suggestions...or any for that matter.

It has already been PROVEN that cooling pads DO help this lappy...so, what are some great ones out there that will do the job and fit nicely?

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

After 3h of gaming last night...the temps on my G73 vid memory are 91C. I was thinking that its time to get a cooling pad. Can someone please suggest the best one for this laptop?

    thanks,

    V

    thanks guys.

The NZXT is pretty expensive...but for a bit lower..I really love the nice polished look of the Zalman NC2000.

Happyantix or anyone else who uses this cooler.....could you guys please monitor and give me some temps before and after using cooler from gpu? I use HDwinfo32 for temperature readings. My concern is if this design is actually efficient for the G73JH.

Several G73JH owners on the newegg site have reported that the Zalman NC2000 is a perfect fit for the G73JH.

I bought the Thermaltake Massive23, the one with the aluminium body on advice from another cooler thread for the G73JH.

I should have it by Wednesday and can keep you informed how well it does.

I received the ThermalTake Massive23 ST.

I played Bad Company 2 last night with GPU O/C'd 800 Core, memory same, 1000.

I also had the air conditioner on since it was 85F in the apartment last night. The highest temp for me was 77C

For those who use the Asus G73 backpack like I do, you will be happy to know the Thermaltake Massive23 fits inside like a glove.

looking at the picture in that thread im guessing that coolers with a big fan in the middle (antec 200/Thermaltake Massive23) are more effective for the g73.

    Necro'd, sorry! :D

I seem to remember reading somewhere that USB cooling pads were causing issues with the G73. I've done a ton of research on a few different notebooks, so I may be confusing them.

While it's revived, any other thoughts on good coolers?

While the main intake is on top, there are vents underneath the G73JH. So, blowing air up from the bottom will help cooling. Even just lifting the G73JH off a flat surface can have some impact on temperature.

Yep. The GPU heat sink has fins on it. So blowing cool air would help, from what I saw, looked to me the passive cooling is a big part to the cooling. I think that's why adding copper sinks help, if you want to g that far to mod it.

The two fans directed to the back already do a good job.

The main issue I personally have with cooling pads on the g73 though, is the elevation. With the keyboard already set to 5 degree elevation, it just becomes redundant with the addition of a cooling pad.
