    Hey all,

So i have a g73 JH and for some reason my OS went corrupt. No programs will launch and it and windows utils freeze. I obviously want to reinstall windows, but i was wondering if i should do a clean or with the AI Recovery burnt DVDs. I burnt the DVDs just after it was set up, so if i restore to those, everything should work well right? Will all of my settings for drives/partitions be kept? Also if i do a clean install, will i have to manually add drivers or will windows auto-detect? Thanks!

I think you should do a clean install that way u can install the stuff only you need and maybe do a full format on the OS partition to ensure integrity. I own a G53 so I dont know if u got the utilities disk like I did, but if you do; after you install windows, pop the disk in and select only the drivers and things you need (see the sticky for recommended software) and it will install all of ur drivers all you need to afterwards is update them to the latest versions..... Also, i notice that your scores seem lower than members of this forum with similar machines have you updated ur drivers?

BIOS/vBIOS are independant and not stored on your drives. So it won't erase/downgrade on you.

Ok cool. Also, do we have any idea what the latest/most stable Catalyst center is?

Flatsix911 no matter which method you use, here is the best place to get drivers, disks etc
G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference

IF you restore from the DVD's you loose all custom settings and driver updates, you are back to factory settings (good if go to sell it).
Once you get it up and running create an image to an external hard drive with paragon 11 (free) or windows backup so if issues arise again you can restore easily and quickly.

If you decide not to do a format and clean install - press F9 at startup and it should allow you to do the recovery back to factory specs, but as Kung Lao said , installing windows and loading the latest drivers is a better way to go about this. I am using AMD Catalyst WHQL : 11.07 from the link above with no issues.
