    Hi,

I'm about ready to repaste the GPU and CPU in my G73JW. I have a tube of IC Diamond 7 as recommended by the forum but have a couple of questions before I proceed.

    1. I've read about using thermal pads/tape with the paste. But I also came across some articles that suggested against it. What's the consensus around that?

    2. Removing the keyboard seems to be the trickiest part, especially with the strong tape that is used. Would I need to replace the tape once the keyboard is attached again?

    Thank you.

Well, don't use thermal pads and paste on the same component. There are pads on the vRAM and CPH, you want those to stay there and in good condition. Use paste only on the CPU and GPU dies.

You will not need to replace the tape under the keyboard.

Do you really need to repaste, a good dusting might just do the trick.

I might just start by cleaning the vents and such and see how it goes. I ran FurMark for about 46 min and GPU temp maxed at 93 while CPU maxed at 98. I know temps are running higher than about a year ago. So it's a matter of time.

Just getting my ducks in a row for when the time comes.
