Hello there i have a G71GX wwith a p8700 and its OC to 3.1ghz which is perfect for current games and it does great, however i want to but a core 2 extreme for more performance and i have found one on ebay for VERY cheap almost cheap

Now if this is real im going to be VERY happy, but i have a few questions:
Could this be a fake Chinese knock off?
    Thats really it lol

It is an engineering sample chip. Illegal to resale, could have any number of missing features or defects, and the price is definitely too good to be true.

Buyer beware as far as I'm concerned.

I bought a ES T9600 and find no problem with it. But this one still have 5 days left to bid so I wont hold my breath for it to be that cheap by the end. Also current i7 has gone far from that gen of core 2 extreme.

Josh I would have thought that is a QS model which means it is the next stage from ES it is what the OEM's use to test their laptops, it mentions this in the listing so contact the seller and find out if its ES or QS. Mine is a QS but still has ES stamped on it and these chips are no different to the retail chips apart from they are not for Sale.

I have a QS and the only difference is that I cannot use Yougamer to check for system requirements as it does not recognise it haha that is it. Any CPU that does not come with a Warranty is going to be risky but for the price they sell QS models for it is a bargain.

There is still 4 days and 7 hours left on the bid. I doubt you would win. don't worry about it, this is why the forum is here.

dont bid on it yet just watch and put down your money in the last 5 minutes, that way you can keep the price low and have less chance of someone outbidded you in the last minute or second.

The price will skyrocket by the time it gets to the end. If you're serious about this purchase, I'd get ebay sniping software, because odds are all the people who are bidding on something like this are going to use one.
