Now that, kinda makes a LOT of sense. Will give that a shot.

I've been upgrading the Realtek drivers and still can use the Creative package. My suggestion for you would be to install an earlier Realtek package that works, install Creative, then update to latest Realtek.
-
-
I don't really understand about this. When I did my clean install, I used the latest on the Realtek site, and then installed Creative. Worked just fine.
What they're referring to is grab the latest Realtek Audio driver pack from Asus. -

Here is one thing I don't get...
When I got my G73JH-A3 I did the usual- backup the system, uninstall the bloatware, but I did not touch the drivers installed at all, so I still had the creative, the realtek, etc...
So, I found out abotu the crash with the shipped realtek drivers, updated to 2.49 (both HDMI and HD Audio), and the Creative drivers still worked just fine...
Now, I install a game me and the kids play, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Install goes well, I update it, install the add-on Blood & Ice. Run the final 2 updates and launch the game. While configured th graphics and sound I notice it has a "Creative EAX" logo on the sound panel. Now even on my sons machine, an Asus ROG Maximus III Formula, which includes thier X-Fi OEM package, which is full installed and configured, they do not have the same "EAX" logo on the config screen in the game.
Now, I had a prolem with the ethernet port not working, so, of course, a completel reinsall of the factory image was the first course of action. It went fine, didn't fix the port, so I had to open the laptop and push on the cables for the ethernet and lo-wnad-behold the port now works...
Well, upon reinstalling everything I find Sacred 2 won't run now and crashes. Inloking into it I had to add the line "-skip openal" to the shortcut so it skips the openal check. Now, because of that, there is no "EAX" logo in the game anymore.
I know it sounds trivial, but is Creative THAT MUCH of a bunch of moronic a-holes that they can't even get thier software to configure for games, which is the ONLY reason you would use thier software in the first place!?!?!?
I just don't understand why it would on the first config, but on a reimage it would not??? I made sure I did the exact same steps in configuring it after the reimage. -
You need to run ALchemy to setup for EAX support for each game, if it uses it.
-
Looks like there is a "perfect storm" needed to get the Creative stuff to install and work properly. If I knew what was missing where, or the "magic sequence" I would do it... -
Install an older Realtek package, stock or otherwise. Install Creative. Uninstall old Realtek. Install Latest Realtek . Run Alchemy to install to game dirs. done. profit!
-
Chastity, do you have an .exe of the creative software zipped? I'm @ work w/out the driver cd and I wanna give this another go.
-
Not offhand, but my 3rd sig has the driver cd on it.

WOW, Asus put the Creative MB installer on their site?!
-
-
Slow ASUS is slow.
-
there is a new set of Creative Audigy Driver on Asus site. checking it out right now
-
so i installed the newest realtech drivers and now two "speakers" show up at the sound control panel
did i mess something up? -
it's fine, Creative drivers takes over everything
-
-
well....it was posted on August 3rd... not new?
-
No, and feedback on it is that it may not install properly. Apparently it may not detect the hardware properly. Stick to the version on the Driver CD. And no, it's not new. It's still 1.0
-
Hm, so I uninstalled everything creative a few weeks ago because it was giving me crashes with bass boost, but it sounded really nice. So I wanted to try it again with updating realtek drivers after, but I went to download the Creative drivers on Asus's site - but its giving me an error - "setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system"
. Any solutions?
-
ccleaner,install Realtek first,then Creative
-
After some tests, the SB Audigy Advanced MB (from asus website download vAudio_WIN7_6015978) don't want to install because it can't detect apropriate hardware... for an mysterious reason.
So, if it can help how i have proceed to make it worked :
1) install the SB Audigy Advanced MB from the CD recovery or from the .iso mounted by an virtual drive and reboot (found somewhere i don't remember...) DRIVER_CD_WIN7_10_AsusG73JH.iso
2) reinstall the driver from the same CD (in /software/audio/realtek/ALC269/...) reboot again ...
3) install the fix (only the fix provide by Daniel_K (SBA_ADVMB_W7UPD)
4) reboot and it's finished.
I have noticed an impressive improvement quality of the stock speaker.
For info, i have activated :
-bass boost
-CMSS-3D
No freez with steam yet ... so wish me luck !
According to me, you should try if you use the internal speaker, if not leave it with the realtek driver (from the realtek website).

Thanks Chastity! Was having the problem with Steam locking up my computer - enabled CMSS-3D and Graphic EQ now all is well!

it's a directx compability issue with the creative drivers. you just need to make your direct X sound dll files "READ-ONLY" after making everything work to ensure that it never gets upgraded with newer ones that make ease of access crash and pc freeze etc...
other than this issue and the fan noise issue (that i've fixed by opening the laptop up and replacing a piece of black tape that was the culprit), pc is great.
still kinda disappointing to have to fix so much stuff ... -
You shouldn't have to do that with the X-Fi MB 1.1 package.
1) Install your stock Realtek drivers
2) Install Creative X-Fi MB 1.1
3) Run patcher (after removing all old license files)
4) Update to current Realtek drivers
5) ???
6) PROFIT!! -
just a quick question, does the problems (freezing/instability) associated with the creative software apply to only the G73JH or does it affect all G-series machines? Particular want to know if it affects the G53SW version, because I would want all those affects it offers..
-
The G53SW uses the THX Notebook software instead of the Audigy MB stuff.
