Instructions
1. Once you have unziped place anywhere you want.
2. Delete any autoexec.cfg files found in the Crysis 2 root folder. (if you're asking what that is, don't worry about it)
3. Delete any target commands you may have put on the shortcut as they will override the autoexec.cfg that is created
4. Run the Crysis2AdvancedGraphicsOptions.exe
5. Hit apply once all settings are set
*note* You do not have to start this program every time you want to play Crysis 2.
This will work with any shortcut you make with Crysis 2. All this program does is create the autoexec.cfg
that Crysis 2 will use on startup.

nice, really useful for average computers

thx for the file.. this is the only way to edit Graphics??? I want to edit Hardcore Settings Can i use it?
**I cannot find autoexec.cfg can any help me out?? I am using FTL's release thx! -
The game runs awesome as is. I played at 1080p, 700/1000 in advanced and looks terrific. Sadly, 750/1050 render me a couple of GSOD with newer 11.4 RC2. But a stock clocks the game runs perfect. I'll try the config tweak program to remove the excess of AA used in the game, which in the demo allow me to gain some fps for better performance.
@fugitiv3 there are not a autoexec.cfg in the root folder, you must create it manually or using this program. -
thx for the Nekki but in what folder do i need to create the file? or it doesnt matter?
I run the game at 800/1100 CC11.2 with hardcore settings and am getting 20-30FPS..the graphics look awesome but I want more FPS to feel the game more smooth... Probably i will disable motion blur lower AA and Anisotropy.. -
Nekki, what quality setting is "Advanced"? Is that the highest or midrange or what?
Maybe I'll have to give this game another shot..... -
@dolsson
Gamer Settings -> Low Settings
Advanced -> Medium
Hardcore -> High -
-
Thanks for this tool Nayajoeun

Even in the lowest, the game looks amazing.
Actually:
Gamer = High settings
Advanced = Very High
Hardcore = Extreme

@dolsson: at the beginning the demo run choppy, but after the last automatic update, the game started to perform as the final version is currently performing. For full performance I removed the excess of AA which at 1080p is useless (and also the intro).
@fugitiv3 the progrma automatically put the cfg in the game root folder ( x:\Crysis 2\ or X:\...\...\steam\app\crysis 2) -
Maybe it will be worth getting on this machine afterall? -
v1.3's out btw
Changes (Version 1.3)
*fixed MSAA - should work now
*fixed crouch toggle - should work better
*added ability to change to preset low, medium, high

How's the game anyways? I'm happy that it runs quite well on G73. Hopefully its better optimised than it predecessors.
-
So far, the game is addictive, fast and with strategies to play, it difficult and beautiful. The only thing you will notice (I recently played warhead) this time is less open world, you go from to an open area to an small area (building), next go back the the next big area (outside), next back to small area, way different than previous games, always open. -
I'm playing the game all day now, haha. It's fun
I run it at High settings being the lowest but even at that it looks beautiful and run like a charm for hours! -
Here my autoexec.cfg:
After some testing, I can say I hate hardcore, everything looks flurry/fuzzy. Between gamer and advance there is no significant differences, the most clear ones are the drawing distance and some shadows, but hell, in a frenetic gameplay you won't care about that. So far, I decided to play in advance with the above settings, the optimum between quality and performance. If ppl want raw performance, stay in gamer and with those setting the fps count will be always very high. -
Really am amazed how well my G73 JH runs this bad boy and happy that they didnt do what they did with the 1st and turn it into a benchmark. The campaign is very good and the story as well struggled to get into the first one myself personally I dont know if it was because I couldnt get it to look good enough on my setup or that it just seemed slightly repetetive on the fighting this one is a massive step up.
I am running it at 1080p at Hardcore (high) and get FPS of 34-42 and it never drops below 30 with below setup and clocks running at 800/1100.
Very pleased indeed 5870 you continue to impress me. -
@Dallers how do you get 34-42 with Hardcore Settings? am running the same clocks but i only get 20-30 i use ccc 11.2
-
I tried 850/1150 then 820/1100 then 810/1000 and all of them got the same periodic freeze, idk why, I can OC well on most any other game.

I play as many of my SP campaign FPS or Hack & Slash or Action games console style with my machine hooked up to my 60" Plasma running HDMI and an XBox 360 controller for Windows.
This is how I played Crysis & Crysis: Warhead too.
I did a Pepsi challenge with this game and Warhead in terms of graphics on my desktop machine, and I don't get the hate.
Maybe it's a matter of subjective opinion, or my eyes aren't seeing what the disappointed gamers are seeing, but not only does this game run an average of 80-100+FPS on Extreme/Hardcore, but to my eyes, the game is much better looking than Warhead. Combined with the performance improvement, I feel this is quite an achievement. It still causes bad tearing on my Pioneer Kuro so I still use V-Sync and it's been locked at a steady 60fps the whole game.
Warhead on the other hand, does get 50-60fps with VSync off, but still tears, so Vsynch on the same display, locks Warhead in at 24hz/24fps. This is a huge difference right here.
Though to be fair, Crysis 2 runs in DX9 while Warhead runs in DX10. Yet I still prefer the graphics of Crysis 2. Though maybe this is as much art direction as anything.
The other thing I'm confused on, is many gamers hate the Extreme/Hardcore settings for the motion blur and FOV, especially among other things. They complain it makes them sick, doesn't look as good, etc.
When I run the game, and play it at Extreme on my 60" display, none of this bothers me as I get a constant 60fps with my desktop (And this is on a last generation rig)
Is this because most PC gamers are playing it on a smaller and sharper display than my 60" 1080p/I'm playing the game under a more "console" like environment?
I'm not saying others are wrong at all, I'm just trying to understand it. It seems like if you can get a constant 60fps or better on Extreme (not so with my beloved G73) - then could it be argued that those settings are the look the designers/creators intended for the game?
As for the G73, I also get 20-30fps on the Advanced/Very High (medium) settings and not much better at Gamer. I'm running 11.4 beta and 800/1100 clocks.
My desktop which crushes this game has an I7 920 and 6gb of 1066 ram and 2 Nvidia GTX 275's SLI'd
Awesomely, my equally beloved M11x-R2 surprisingly runs (arguably) equal as well as my G73 on Gamer/High settings.
So I'm wondering, maybe this game is a lot more CPU intensive than GPU intensive compared to most FPS?
I still believe it is a graphical and gameplay improvement over the original and Warhead. But I'm one of those in between gamers who likes to hook up a PC to a Home Theater display and play SP games with a controller, but with graphics that would make any console owner cry... Of course, there are exceptions. KB/Mouse for FPS Multi, RTS games, etc. - but that's why I love PC gaming! You can have the best of both worlds.
I'm trusting with time, performance will improve on the G73 for Crysis 2. Still, I highly recommend it and it does play a constant 30fps on lowest settings on the G73 and or M11x, if either or similar is your only rig, and at 30fps it's still a gorgeous game.
Cheers! -
I dont know if it was the scene that I was in but the lowest I have seen after an hour of playing is 28FPS and that was only for a few seconds and then back up to 33 or more.
Yes I am overclocking and my chip runs cool but I think in general my laptop has a mind of its own I get nearly 2272 points in 3DMark11 but only get 11500 in 3DMark06?!!!
Clearly a nutty asus.
