Played a few rounds. Too tired to really get into it right now...pretty late here. Anyway, on a g73jh RBBX05, with stock specs. MP runs very well. Online FPS is about 40 average on Hardcore (the highest settings, havent tried lower settings as I have no reason to), really depends on where you are and whats going on..Now that I know it runs well, I'll just have to see if I actually like the gameplay then i'll decide to preorder or not. :)

That's interesting to hear how well the game is performing.

I remember when Crysis came out and it was an absolute computer melter. I figured Crysis 2 would do twice the damage, but I guess not? I mean, especially to the G73. I wasn't even dreaming of playing it.

Did they learn their lesson the first time around, or what?

but the g73 is a way further than console in performance... depending on the game, the g73 can do 1080p at 60fps, for consoles the common standard is 30 fps at 720p (or even sub-720p with upscaling)

40 fps on hardcore is hard to believe. On hardcore with my overclocked 5870 (810/1250) I get between 20 and 35 fps in a multiplayer match.

dont worry patches and drivers will push the performance.
and if not, use a custom config.

The difference might be in the resolution.. The rbbx05 has a max res of 1600x900

Ive got the same laptop and with the new 11.2 drivers I am averaging 41.2

Yeah that's what I initially thought too, but after playing the beta and now the MP demo I'm really thinking that they designed this game for consoles and then PORTED to PC!!

I just made a video of me playing the demo on second to highest setting...I got a steady 40-45 FPS which is great.....I own the G73-BST7 from Best Buy...and my max screen res is 1600x900 so.....I'll post the vid once it uploads......The online multiplayer is more fun than I thought it was going too be....im looking foward to the actual game now... :)

    Here is the vid:

its mighty fun (big surprise) the HUD takes getting used to, but ya, my G73JH-A2 is running this game at about 28-45 FPS 1920X1080 with gamer, 25-40 advanced, didn't try hardcore what with the 25fps. temps never got higher than 83 C during play and tend to stay at about 75. better FPS at 1600X900 like above. check it out, yall!

Temps vary for me between 75 and 85, depending on sensor and what's going on. I think I was on gamer or advanced, FHD 1080p.

You mean, like most games these days? Anyways, you're right - that's why crysis 2 is playable on modern hardware, when crysis 1 wasn't...

Please people, be more specific when you say it runs awesome for you or sucks. Please post your results according to resolution, settings, catalyst and tweaks.

    Here I go:

After a while to create an account, finally fired up the multiplayer just for test performance in my G73JH-A1 with Cat 11.2 at 750/1050.

Running the game a 1080p in the hardcore (level 3 of available setting through the menu) the game runs with stuttering, around 20-30fps, depending how fast loads the visible portion of the map. The game looks pretty but not enjoyable. In advanced more fps, less stuttering. In Gamer (level 1) was completely enjoyable at 1080p and I can not say if there was any significant decrease in graphics quality but a noticeably decrease in the glowing of the texture's brightness. Still to much post-processing makes feel the gameplay slowish and ghostly. Since the program code was developed to console (and it's the same for the un-optimized Crysis 1) I went down to 720p (full screen) just for test performance. I can say the game runs smooth in any setting even in hardcore. But again the gameplay feel slowish and to much glow.

After I while, I realize the game runs ALL THE TIME with AA activated, which is a killer performance when too much post-processing is in the scene. So far, Crysis 2 behave as a console port, with limited setting options in the menu I decide to tweak by myself.

I created a .bat file in the same folder than the Crysis2Demo.exe with the following:

Just run the bat and now I can say the game runs awesome at 1080p in hardcore setting. with the first tweak I got rid off the AA and removing Ambient Occlusion, the game still looks awesome, with not evident loosing in graphics quality. Also forcing to use the whole dx10 hardware present in ours 5870m (game runs in dx9 similar to xbox360, do I said is a port?). I was able even to run the game in Highest Setting (level 4) and is still smooth at 1080p.

    Waiting your inputs and tweaks.

Again, im playing this on a rbbx05 w/ stock specs. Meaning im running it at 1600x900. If you've got an 1080p screen then you're obviously going to get less FPS.

Anyway, Ive played the demo for a good amount of hours now. Still dont know what to think of it exactly..its fun but at the same time its meh. I know its only a demo, but I wish they could've shown some more (or had more) unlockables/features available. I know some people are disappointed at this being a 'console port',and yes the video settings are laughable, but I have no complaints considering how smooth the game runs on hardcore. Now, if it was running like Bulletstorm (another console port) then of course hell no.

Create a notepad file. Name it however you want it.txt. Access it and type in what the above poster mentioned. Exit and save. Rename it to whatever.bat. Access it.
That's what I did anyways. I'm no expert. I didnt get any performance boost whatsoever (still 20ish fps).

I have also G73JH-A1. At 1920x1080 with Hardcore settings for me is unplayable. With Advanced settings I play pretty good in Skyline, around 30-40fps but in the other map (I dont remember the name) the fps decrease sometimes to 20fps.

I have tried the .bat file and I have the same Fps on Hardcore and Advanced, 30-40fps. It still looks good but I hate the No AA effect...

I think I have less performance than many of you...How many Fps do you have on Advanced in both maps?

    I use 11.2 and 700/1000

How can you tell, with such a high pixel count AA doesn't do a whole lot, but does suck up a tonne of FPS.

my G73 JH Rbb05 runs hardcore at 1600x 900 at 40 fps. The game actually useless less graphics than the original crysis. and AA is applied to all graphics settings cause without it the game would be unplayable

Ding ding ding. Like everyone else Crytek finally bend over for the console masses. It's sad to see from a PC gamer's perspective.

testing it on 1080 hardcore mode, it is not playable.. going down to 16x9, i was getting up to 40 pfs.. with 16x9 + gamer it reaches 60 fps..

clocked at 700/1000 with 11.2 ca..
its pretty nice game.. having fun using other skills instead of killin them with guns...

    Hi all,

Just for and update, now I'm home and I can post my whole .bat for better performance.

If people still experience slow downs, try any of the following cvars:

those are for the console, still investigating how activate the console. Just put then in the following the format of my previous quote.

I just thought I would post this for anyone intrested. My G73JH is pretty much stock, however I have reinstalled win 7, no overclocking or underclocking though.

On 1920x1080 resolution with Hardcore settings, I am getting between 15-24 fps. Its not really playable, but is impresive IMO for a laptop.

On 1920x1080 resolution with Gamer settings, I am getting between 23-33 FPS. Indoors of course, the fps is higher and is very playable, outdoors the fps drops it is noticable, but could be playable. I will probably end up playing in 1440x900 just to make things a little faster. Considering the graphics levels, I really am impressed at the frame rates from this laptop.

Well in skyline I get 35-50 fps in 1080 gamer (didn't try other settings) but in the other map I get around 23-30 fps at gamer and hardcore it's about 22-25 fps.. The only thing I can say is that the beta had x32 and x64 but the demo doesn't. I think I had higher fps in the beta but I'm not sure. Just sucks that the demo is only x32.

Just a thing... how come some people play it with high fps on some g73 high settings? Like in most games, my friend has a g73jh too had he gets faster loadings and higher fps when his laptop is insanly loaded with crap and he never cleaned the fans...
