just played about 1 and half hour of crysis 2 campaign on my G73JH, very smooth on Gamer and Advanced settings with vsync on, around 50 fps constantly. Quite difficult to play on hardcore settings, fps drop to 30 and under.
havn't tried the graphic options tool someone posted here, cause honestly i can't see anything diffferent with gamer and hardcore settings.
crysis 2 is absolutely a good game but i'm still looking forward to BF3, sci-fi story is not my taste so much. On some online discussions i saw crysis 2 and bf3 both developed on frostebite 3 engine, but i can't find anything about this in crysis 2 intro or credits or sth. still i hope this is true, and bf3 team can achieve the same graphic "adaption" thing on medium level graphic card like ati 5870m, i really admir the efforts crysis 2 team put in this offical game, much more smooth and less hardware demanding than that leaked beta version.

The reason Crysis 2 is so much smoother and works on so many systems well, is because it is extremely well coded when compared the the first and crysis warhead. BF3 is going to pretty intensive as well, but you have a strong computer. And the frostbite engine has also been extremely well coded, they really saw the faults in the engine and fixed them up. BF3 is fixing up quite an awesome game, and I'm sure you'll be able to play it fine!

Its also a direct x 9 game while the originals were direct x 10.

Not to mention DICE explicitly stated that PC is the lead platform, so its geared towards us PC gamers. It should be much, much better optimized then the previous console ports in the series.

Same here... But i prefered to run @ 720p everything on hardcore and using their postmsaa to the max... The extra AA more than makes up the resolution loss (even more so in my case since my monitor is only 900p) and i still get 40-50ish framerate ^^
I even tried some custom configs using autoexec.cfg and managed to get it to look slightly even more beautiful than before while maintaining the smoothness... So cool -

resolution loss lol, the difference between 1200p,1080p, 720p isn't as great as alot of people make it out to be I have a 1200p screen but usually play a game at the 1600x1050 becuase I get a much smoother game and I really can barely tell the difference

Crysis 2 looks like a better game but its got too many bugs. I guess BF3 is no problem at all in even BC2 gets owned on my G73.

Played the first few saves tonight under hardcore settings. Rarely dropped under 33 fps. Very playable and a very good game.

looks better and runs faster
just make a txt file and copy my settings into it. name the file autoexec.cfg (yes you have to change the filetype) and put it into your crysis 2 install folder.
than the game starts without the intros and sharper view, the field of view is also changed a bit..."optimized" i would say
and i made the shadows less blurry and darker. but this is just a thing how i like it. if you not just remove the sys_spec_shadows 2 in your file.
and now you can toggle the zoom and donte have to hold the zoom key. the mouse smoothing is disabled now to.
and yes the performance is improved too
i play on hardcore with max. resolution and this config.
in future i will post a real configmod as i did for crysis 1.
this is more like a litte hotfix -
@Rückenmark I will give it a try later! what CCC are you using? 11.4?
-
yes i do
......10chars
here is the file:
DOWNLOAD http://www.2shared.com/file/2U8u07Y8/autoexec.html

I haven't tested my fps in Crysis 2, but I know it plays extremely smooth, much like Metro 2033 (with DirectX 9 or 10 and Medium). I will be installing BF3 soon; it's lying on my desk in shrink wrap still from Black Friday.
Crysis 2 runs pretty well on G73JH, wish BF3 can be the same
