    Hi

Yesterday I noticed my first dead pixel -of the mean dark kind- near the right edge of my display.

Now there's another one in the bottom...

I can live with them but how can I prevent more from showing up!! It seems they're appearing by the hour... HELP!

give it a few gentle taps with an q-tip , it has fixed a few dead pixels for me, but it can also cause more, your choice :)

You shouldn't be getting that many dead pixels at once normally, are you sure they're actually dead and not stuck pixels or dust (try a damp microfiber cloth)?

You can try jscreenfix and see if it helps, but if they're really dead, there's not much you can do. Sometimes they will spontaneously come back. There's nothing preventative you can do either, as far as I know, besides not beating up your screen.

There is a period of 30 days or something for select asus machines where they will exchange the panel for dead or bright pixels, but if it's beyond that you don't have much recourse.

So the dead pixel gaurantee is only good for 30 days? Lame.

Yeah I just looked it up, it's 30 days, on models that come with the guarantee. It's better than some other manufacturers that have no policy, or something like 10 pixel minimums.

Well with my previous computer I tried the q-tip thing and only ended up with a little array of dead pixels so I'm hesitant to try that again.

Now the jscreenfix thing is supposedly effective only on stuck pixels but mine are plain dead... in my experience they never come back to life. :(

Also am way past the 30 day warranty.

Makes me sad. WHY OH WHY DEAD YOU DIE ON ME, PIXELS?

You have to put pure red green and blue backgrounds over the affected area and cycle through them to visually isolate the pixel. If it's completely dark you'll know it's dead, but if it's a single color it's stuck.

So if I have one white pixel I might be able to fix it.

Thanks will try a few things
