Heya,
Just thought for the fun of it make a poll for the G1S owners about their G1S if its still running or if it has died. Would be cool if you posted how long you had it before it died, also.
-
Had mine about ~1.5 years before the GPU gave out.
-
Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
Mine's still going strong. (Well, strong-ish). Purchased in June '07.
-
Add me to the broken list. lasted about 1.5 years also
-
Not sure if my G1 was affected about this (don't think so), but it's gpu died also after about an year. After another rma, got a g1sn back which is still fine, but it has the 9500m gs. Let's keep this just about the G1S for now.
-
i bought mine in june 2007, and i've yet to have any significant issues with it. i've had it on a notebook cooler since day one, periodically cleaned out the vents and stuff. even when gaming my gpu has yet to go over 90C.
-
Mine died a couple of weeks ago. Like the other thread about this mentioned similarly, screen just died, but everything seemed to boot okay. Sent it in, got screen replacement, wait for parts from Taiwan (you think they'd have learned by now and mass-shipped motherboards to replace them all, hehe), and now I've got it back, workin nicely again.
-
motherboard replaced (9500m) about a year in
-
Add me to the list.
-
same here. 1.5 years then it died. just got it back just now. but i have another problem. it doesnt seem to recognise the 9500 graphics. so my score now is 1.0. is there anything that i can do?
-
Manufactured in June 2007.
Bought in August 2007.
Motherboard replaced in December 2008 (took about 2 weeks)
Sold in March 2009. -
Still runing fine ... Bought on November 07
-
I'm just preparing to sell it, but it still runs fine with no problems and no overheating.
-
when i get mine back ima sell it does anyone know how much it cud go for? at most and atleast?
-
(mine had 4 Gigs of RAM)
I had found a buyer on craigslist for 950$ CAD (764$ USD).. but that's a whole other story (UPS COD / UPS Expre$$ $aver / laptop was held at custom and arrived late / dude "left" the country / dude never picked up the laptop / laptop was returned 3 weeks / packaging was in limb / i am out 300$ USD in shipping and I have a few more reasons to HATE UPS - not that I needed more...) -
board died after 1.5 years.
Still waiting 3 weeks for it to get fixed -
I bought mine on Craigslist in Feb of 2009 for $450, came with laptop cooler and gaming headphones. I loved it!!!!! It was manufactured in July 2007. Just died last night. Called ASUS, they want me to RMA it. It is out of warranty. What to do?
-
-
I had mine for about thirteen months and it ran as well on the day I sold it as on the day I bought it. It went through constant daily use, but not that much moving around and I kept it super clean/dust-free. I was really happy with it overall--I only sold it to buy the G50V. Of course, for all I know it was a paperweight a couple of weeks after I got rid of it
-
well, I bought mine two months ago and kept it clean inside.. cleaning out the fans and what not. It rarely ever left my office.
How much does ASUS charge to replace the motherboard when they RMA it?
-
Could I sell an ASUS G1s with a bad motherboard? How much is it worth?
-
There should be a "not dead yet" option
-
Yeah, there should be.. lol. You better watch out....
-
Bought in July 07, died in March 09, go on RMA, back and Graphic Card Black screen, back to RMA one month ago, back home since 5 days and working HOT as ever, with plastic parts broken and PCMIA plastic cache mising!
The guys on ASUS support seems to be some kind of blind and deaf asian, with a great imagination about rights to respect in my country, creating new laws and obligations.
Keep trying to make them understand what's the truth! -
-
It seems that here (in France) they're a bit harder than in Uk or USA...but I hope i'm just wrong. -
Had mine since 8/07, always runs a bit hot but I use canned air about once every 3 months.
I recently found out my dvd drive is dead, so I will be bringing it in under Best Buy's Service plan next month before I go away on a cruise.
As for operating conditions, 99% of the time I have it sitting on my couch on top of a metal cookie baking tray to dissipate heat and provide a solid surface for the feet to sit on and provide air flow underneath the laptop.
My suspicion as to why the dvd drive stopped working is because I pick up the laptop from under the drive itself, and I always feel some flex when I do so. -
There's no option for mine -
It's still running but with occasional artifacts in game. It's been RMA'd 3xs - The first time 6 months after I got it = replaced mobo.
The second time was last month- they put thermal paste on the GPU and shipped it back to me.
Now the third RMA -
I sent it in yesterday because I still get artifacts during gameplay.
It's always ran warm ( 77-79c under load 58-62c idle) , power brick was changed out twice already .
No option in your poll for mine, since its running but with problems. Purchased 7/07 -
bought in nov2007 died in jul2010..
