The A1 has 2 hybrid HDDs and a Blu-Ray player. The XT-1 has 1 regular 500GB HDD, and the XA-1 has 1 750GB HDD. The XT-1 and the XA-1 both do not have Blu-Ray players. Also, I think the A1 comes with a backpack and a mouse.

    XT1 has blueray, 500gig 7200rpm hdd and 24month warranty.

    XA1 has dvdburner, 750gig 7200rpm and 12month warranty.

    A1 has blueray, 2x 500gig hybrid hdds, 24month warranty + a mouse and a backpack.

All 3 have the 1year accidental warranty as well.

My mistake, the XT-1 DOES have a Blu-Ray player.

    Thanks guys.

The A1 cost about 1700, 200 more just for a backpack and mouse.
I am stuck between getting the XT1 and the XA1. The hard drive difference is negligible. So it comes down to warranty. The XT1 has an additional year warranty for about 100 dollars more than XA1. Do you think the extra year warranty makes a difference?

Do you want a Blu-Ray player? If you do, you have to go with the XT-1. As for the warranty, I would say forget it. I'm not big on warranties, so that's my view.

Backpack, mouse, AND two of the fastest mechanical HDDs available for an extra $200? I'd say that's a good deal.

I am pondering this exact problem... XA1, XT1, or A1

    1) I currently have no Blue Ray DVD's Honestly I do not see that much of a difference on my 62" TV at 8'... Sorry, I must be blind or something, but I don't...
    2) Even the 500GB drive is probably more than I will utilize...
    3) The SSD drives are enticing, considering that they are much faster...

    ---- With that said ----

So from what I can tell (rounding numbers)
XA1 - Best Price I found is $1400 - Amazon (NA at Tiger Direct)
XT1 - Tiger Direct $1500 - (get a 250GB less Hard drive BUT a Blue ray DVD player)
    A1 - Tiger Direct $1750 Another $250 ($350 over the XA1) I get (2) 500GB SSD hybrid Drives, and apparently a Backpack and a Mouse...

A Seagate 500GB SSD hybrid drive, is $100 (Tiger Direct)

Tiger Direct has the XT1 for $1530 with a logitech Mouse and cheapo carry case...

So I could purchase an XT1 (with the Mouse and carry case from Tiger) , a Seagate hybrid SSD drive, And get similar options for $120 less...

Am I missing something? or are there other goodies that come with one or the other that I am not accounting for... Where Am I going wrong?

    Thanks

    John

I suggest you hold off on the XT1. Mine arrived (Tiger Direct) with 2 memory slots instead of 4.

My suspicion is that asus is using the Dual Core motherboards which has the 2 memory slots instead of the Quad Core motherboards which have 4 memory slots.

I have raised the issue with both companies and I am still waiting for a reply.

Btw newegg.com is selling the seagate 500gb hybrid drive for $94 with free shipping.

I'd say get the XA1 if you don't care about warranty and get a SSD and use that as a boot-drive. 100 is just enough for a 60GB SSD.

I didn't know Asus have 2 memory slots version, did you just open the bottom cover or did you also remove the top case and the keyboard?
